We will continue on foot to Strasbourg Cathedral, a true masterpiece of Gothic art. Its construction took more than 400 years. With its spire rising to 142 meters, it was the tallest religious building in the Christian world until the 19th century. On the outside, the facade is the largest picture book of the Middle Ages. The hundreds of sculptures that seem to stand out from the wall accentuate the effects of light and shadow. The color of the pink sandstone changes depending on the time of day and the color of the sky. Inside, the slender nave inspires contemplation. The stained glass windows from the 12th to 14th centuries and the rose window are enchanting. The monumental organ has a remarkable case with automatons. Depart on foot from the pier to reach Cologne city center. Accompanied by your guide, you will discover this city, a crossroads of Europe since the Middle Ages, which has retained its importance in terms of commerce, industry, culture, and religion. You can... see+ admire the exterior of the immense Cologne Cathedral, which took more than five centuries of patience to complete. Construction began in 1247 but had to be interrupted in 1560 due to a lack of funds, only to resume in 1842 at the request of Emperor Frederick William IV, who had fallen in love with it. Construction was finally completed in 1863, and the Gothic cathedral was the tallest building in the world from 1880 to 1884. Around the cathedral are 12 other Romanesque churches, arranged in a circle and representing the 12 apostles. You will continue the tour through Cologne's old town, passing by the famous House of Eau de Cologne (exterior).
Before returning to the boat, you will have some free time to stroll through the streets of Cologne or sample the famous local beer, Kölsch. You can return to the boat on foot at your own pace. Please note: times are approximate - please wear comfortable walking shoes.

Not included $30 / pers.
Departure by coach for Volendam, a charming fishing village on the shores of the IJsselmeer, where some locals still wear traditional costumes. After watching a short film explaining the founding of the town and the construction of the dyke, you will have... see+ free time to explore the village and perhaps taste the local specialty: dried eel! Then you will visit a cheese factory (in or around Volendam) to discover how the famous round Dutch cheese — Gouda — is made. You’ll also be able to taste it, available in all sorts of flavors and ages: Baby Gouda or Old Gouda; cow’s milk or goat’s milk; plain, peppered, cumin, chili, or even smoked... these are just a few of the many possible flavors of this little cheese.
Continue by coach to visit Zaanse Schans, an open-air museum. Discover how the famous Dutch wooden clogs are made and learn about their history dating back to the year 1200! At first, they were just small wooden soles at the heel, evolving into hand-carved and painted models displayed in museums. And today? Clogs are still made, now mostly by machine. Before watching how they’re made, take some time to admire the incredible clog collection — from children’s clogs to wedding clogs. Enjoy some free time in the heart of this Dutch eco-museum to explore all its traditions: windmills, cheese, and typical houses. From 1950 onwards, windmills, houses, and regional utility buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries were moved here to form a village along the Zaan River.
This excursion will allow you to discover authentic Holland and its traditions.
Return to Amsterdam by coach.

Not included $68 / pers.
Departure for a tour of Amsterdam by riverboat. With your guide, discover the city's fabulous architecture and tall gabled houses as you glide along the water. You will sail along the four major canals that encircle the center of Amsterdam: Prinsengracht,... see+ Keizersgracht, Herengracht, and Singel. The Singel River was transformed into a canal in the 14th century to form part of the city's defensive belt. The other three canals were designed at the beginning of the Golden Age with the aim of expanding the city. Work began in 1560 and lasted over a hundred years. Today, the historic center is surrounded by four parallel half-moon canals. The layout follows the sun's rays so that every house gets sunlight at some point during the day. On a city map, Amsterdam looks like half a bicycle wheel. Take this opportunity to discover the Dutch capital while relaxing. Free time. Return to the boat.
Note: times are given as a guide only.

Not included $93 / pers.
