Depart on foot with your guide to reach the city center of Cologne. You will admire the exterior of the cathedral, whose construction took over five centuries. A masterpiece of Gothic art, it is a true testament to the strength and perseverance of Christian faith in Europe. Construction began in 1247 and was completed in 1863 after being abandoned in the 16th century. Surrounding the cathedral are 12 Romanesque-style churches, arranged in a circle to represent the 12 apostles. You will continue the visit through Cologne’s Old Town, passing by the famous House of Eau de Cologne (exterior only). Before returning to the ship, enjoy some free time to stroll through the streets of Cologne.

Depart by tourist train for a guided tour through the Rüdesheim vineyards. Enjoy a tasting session in the historic cellars of the Bassenheimer Hof, a 16th-century manor house. Then visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet, housed in a historic 15th-century building. It holds an impressive collection of mechanical musical instruments and is one of the largest and finest collections from the 18th to 20th centuries.

EXPERIENCE: Hike through the Rüdesheim vineyards from the Niederwald Monument to St. Hildegard Abbey.
From the center of Rüdesheim, take the cable car to the Niederwald Monument and enjoy stunning views of the town, vineyards, and Rhine River. Continue hiking through the vineyards to St. Hildegard Abbey, built between 1900 and 1904. Free visit of the abbey, then return to the ship on foot through the vineyards.

In the evening, enjoy the famous Drosselgasse with its lively taverns and live music.

Depart by coach for Heidelberg, the emblematic city of German Romanticism. Meet your guides at Heidelberg Castle for a tour of the exterior of this stunning pink sandstone ruin. Since the late 18th century, the castle’s ruins have inspired poets and painters, who saw them as a symbol of the grandeur and decline of human achievement. Goethe, Hölderlin, Uhland, and Eichendorff praised the scenery, and many painters chose it as a subject. Also visit the geometric terraces of the Palatinate Garden, the "Hortus Palatinus", once considered the "eighth wonder of the world". Continue with a guided walking tour of the old town, including the Church of the Holy Spirit (exterior), built between 1398 and 1441, and burial place of the Prince-Electors.

Return on board in Mannheim and continue cruising the Rhine toward Strasbourg. Gala evening.

Departure by coach for a guided tour of the city. Amsterdam is one of the world's most extraordinary small cities. From its canals and world-famous museums to its many sights and historical treasures, Amsterdam is one of Europe's most romantic and surprising... more+ capitals. Stop at the Riecker Mill, a windmill located on the banks of the Amstel River to the south of the city. The mill was built in 1636 in the village of Sloten. Pumping of the polder water was taken over by an electric pumping station in 1932, and the mill was subsequently dismantled when the polder was dug up to create, among other things, Lake Het Nieuw Meer. In 1961, the mill was re-erected some 8 kilometers away on the banks of the Amstel, between the Kalfjeslaan and Borcht roads. The banks of the Amstel at this point are much frequented by tourists and walkers, and it's a prime location for an old Dutch windmill. A statue of Rembrandt has been erected next to the windmill as a reminder that the painter drew many pictures on the banks of this river. Then visit the famous flower market. You'll find thousands of fresh flowers, as well as bulbs of the famous tulip (with the gouda ball, probably the best idea for a souvenir gift), shrubs, plants... The countless varieties will make you dizzy. Return by coach.

Don't forget to explore the mill dating from 1892 at the far end of the park, which offers a breathtaking view of the tulip fields...In the 15th century, the current Keukenhof estate was a hunting ground. Like the collections center, several areas display rotating exhibits of agricultural objects. The lower level provides access to the spectacular HollandRama panoramic theater. Set off on foot with your guide to reach Cologne city center . You will discover this city, a crossroads of Europe since the Middle Ages, which has retained its importance in terms of commerce, industry, culture, and religion. You can admire the exterior of... more+ the immense Cologne Cathedral , which took more than five centuries of patience to complete. Construction began in 1247 but had to be interrupted in 1560 due to a lack of funds, only to resume in 1842 at the request of Emperor Frederick William IV, who had fallen in love with the building. Construction was finally completed in 1863, and the Gothic cathedral was the tallest building in the world from 1880 to 1884. Around the cathedral are 12 other Romanesque churches, arranged in a circle to represent the 12 apostles. You will continue the tour through Cologne's old town, passing by the famous House of Eau de Cologne (exterior).Before returning to the boat, you will have some free time to stroll through the streets of Cologne or sample the famous local beer, Kölsch(1). Mini-train ride, wine tasting and visit to the Mechanical Music Museum in Rüdesheim
You will start the visit with a tour and commentary of the Rüdesheim vineyards by mini-train, during which you will discover the famous vineyards already cultivated in the Roman period. During this tour, the history of winemaking in the region will be... more+ explained and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Rüdesheim and the Rhine. The train will then stop right before the historical Bassenheimer Hof cellar, a seigneurial residence from the 16th century, where we'll indulge in a wine-tasting*. A winemaker from the Störzel family cellar will guide you through a tasting of three different wines, from the driest to the sweetest, all the while telling you about the history of the cellar and winemaking in the Rüdesheim region, complete with local stories. Afterwards, our visit will continue on to the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments located 100m away from the cellar in an old building from the 15th century. The "Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett" is the first German museum dedicated to self-playing musical instruments, which holds an impressive collection of no less than 350 mechanical musical instruments dating back to the 18th century to the 20th, all spread out on more than 4000 ft². This is a vast collection, dating back three centuries, of fascinating musical instruments that function like computers, ranging from tiny, delicate music boxes to an enormous orchestrion. Tools and machines for the production of organ pipes, cardboard sheet music, rolls of sheet music and perforated disks are also on display in the collection. Whatever their age, museum visitors always take great pleasure in discovering this special music, the techniques from the past and how these instruments work. After visiting the Museum, you will have some free time to stroll through the streets of Rüdesheim ambling down the famous Drosselgasse, before making your own way back to the boat. We'll go to the center of Rüdesheim to catch a gondola lift to the Niederwalddenkmal, a monument built in the 19th century to commemorate the first unification of Germany. From there, you'll have a great view of the small city, the vineyards and... more+ the Rhine. We'll hike through the vineyards to the Abbey of St. Hildegard, built in the early 20th century. This cosmopolitan, friendly, and vibrant city is made up of 15 distinct neighborhoods and is particularly attractive to families, students, business people, and researchers. We'll begin with a visit to the outside of Heidelberg Castle, where you'll be able to see the Renaissance ruins and parts of its restoration. The castle has a history that is almost as old as the city itself. From either the Great Terrace or the gardens, enjoy an amazing view over Heidelberg, the Neckar River, and the valley. Don't miss seeing the Heidelberg Tun. Built in 1751 by Prince Elector Karl Theodor, it housed the wine paid as taxes by the wine growers in the region. Legend has it that the permanently intoxicated court jester who guarded the cask, Perkeo, died after mistakenly drinking a simple glass of water. You can also enjoy a stroll through the castle gardens, once considered a masterpiece of their time. Built upon several terraces, they were made up of many flower beds, mazes, sculptures, heated greenhouse with orange trees, large ponds, waterfalls, and a man-made grotto. We'll then head for the Neckarmünzplatz, on the banks of the Necker River, and continue with a guided tour of the old city. We'll pass by the Church of the Holy Spirit, the most famous church in Heidelberg, whose steeple dominates the town.
