The Bahamas, officially Commonwealth of the Bahamas (English Commonwealth of the Bahamas), is an English speaking country, which, although located far north of the Caribbean Sea, is sometimes considered part of the Caribbean region.
The Bahamas is an archipelago of 700 islands and islets in the Atlantic Ocean, east of Florida, north of Cuba and the rest of the Caribbean and the Western Islands Turkey and Caicos Islands under British dependency.
Its capital is Nassau, located on the island of New Providence. Its inhabitants are Bahamians.
