The Exumas are an archipelago of the Bahamas consists of over 360 islands and islets, some of which are private.
The largest island is called Great Exuma, and is over 60 km long. The main town of the island is George Town (1080 pop. In 1990 census), founded in 1793 and located on Great Exuma. The Tropic of Cancer runs through the city. George Town was so named in honor of George III.
The entire island chain is long over 200 km and an area of 193 km².
