Itinerary

Aswan Herdiab
Pick-up at Aswan airport or your hotel in Aswan by our local partner around 10:00 a.m. We then... more+ depart to visit the Temple of Philae. This temple was moved by UNESCO between 1972 and 1980 to save it from the rising waters of the Nile. Located on an island accessible by small boat, this Greco-Roman temple was long a place of worship dedicated to the universal goddess Isis. In the early 19th century, following in the footsteps of the first adventurers, Pierre Loti—who nicknamed it "the pearl of Egypt"—visited it by dahabieh.

Lunch on board or at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, swimming at Herdiab beach for those who wish, then a visit to the village of Herdiab, one of the few villages on the Nile that has preserved traditional farming methods. Dinner on board.

Herdiab Kom Ombo Kom Ombo El Hammam island
Breakfast during the cruise to Kom Ombo. Visit the temple of Kom Ombo, located on the banks of the... more+ Nile and dedicated to Sobek and Haroeris (Horus the Elder). Here you can see mummified crocodiles found in the nearby cemetery, the Egyptian calendar, and surgical instruments arranged on a tray in front of Imhotep—physician and architect of Djoser's funerary complex—who is venerated here by the Roman emperor Trajan, depicted kneeling. Lunch during the cruise to Gebel Silsila.

Sailing along the sandstone cliffs, we will discover quarries carved with small chapels, including the sanctuary of Horemheb, as well as places dedicated to celebrations of the Nile. We will also reach the great flood steles.

We arrive at the site of Gebel Silsila, where the Nile narrows to squeeze between steep sandstone cliffs. Throughout the New Kingdom and Greco-Roman periods, thousands of workers labored in these quarries to extract sandstone for the construction of temples. Barbecue dinner on El Hammam Island.
The natural setting of this stopover is enhanced by lighting that creates a festive atmosphere. In keeping with tradition, the crew members light a fire, sing, and dance to the beat of the darbouka drums.

El Hammam island Bassaw Edfu El Hegz
Breakfast on board during the trip to Bassaw. Stopover in the small village of Bassaw. Untouched by... more+ tourism, this village offers direct, authentic contact with the locals, free from any commercial considerations. The houses are decorated with frescoes depicting their owners' pilgrimage to Mecca. Before leaving the village, the crew stocks up on fish, particularly Nile perch. You can discover traditional fishing with local fishermen in their small boats: freely tease the Nile perch and other species, learn how to cast a traditional net, strike the surface of the mythical waters, and bring back the fish that will be served for lunch on board.

Lunch is served on board as we sail towards Edfu. We soon arrive in Edfu to visit the temple dedicated to the falcon god Horus. In small groups of two or three, we travel to the temple by horse-drawn carriage through the town. It is one of the best-preserved temples in Egypt. It is also the one that best expresses the contemplation and serenity of sacred places, a veritable open book on the myths and legends of Pharaonic Egypt. Return to the boat by horse-drawn carriage. Sail to El Hegz. Last dinner and night on board.
