Breakfast, then sail to Edfu. Upon arrival, take a horse-drawn carriage ride to the Temple of... more+ Horus, located further inland. This sanctuary dedicated to the falcon god Horus is both the largest temple of the Ptolemaic Dynasty and the second-largest in Egypt after Karnak. Inside, the intact paintings, inscriptions, and reliefs make it the best-preserved temple in Egypt. After the visit, return to the boat for lunch and continue the cruise to Bassaw Island, where the boat will stop for the night. Free time to explore the island and dinner on the riverbank. Overnight on board.

Bassaw Gebel el-Silsila Kom Ombo Aswan
Breakfast, then departure for a tour of Gebel Silsileh, both an archaeological site and Egypt’s... more+ largest sandstone quarry. Placed under the protection of the god Hapy, this quarry supplied the sandstone for nearly all the temples of Upper Egypt. On the west bank of the river stands a sanctuary carved into the rock, dedicated to the god Horemheb and seven other deities, including the local god Sobek. Lunch on board and a walking tour of the ancient quarry before continuing the cruise to Kom Ombo. Dedicated to two deities—Sobek the crocodile to the south and Horus the falcon to the north—the temple features perfectly symmetrical architecture. Built on a hill by three Ptolemies, the Kom Ombo complex is surrounded by a perimeter wall covered in reliefs. Return to the boat to continue upriver to Aswan for dinner. Overnight on board.

Breakfast on board, then departure for a visit to the Temple of Philae on Agilka Island, one of the... more+ most beautiful sanctuaries in Egypt. Begun by Pharaoh Nectanebo I during the 30th dynasty and completed by the Romans, it is the main sanctuary dedicated to Isis. After Philae, the tour continues with the high dam and the unfinished obelisk. The Aswan region, rich in schist, alabaster, and pink granite found only in this part of Egypt, provided the stone blocks used to build the pyramids, statues, and colossi erected by the pharaohs. In the granite quarry, you will find the largest obelisk known to date (41.75 m), which was abandoned due to a crack in the rock. Return to the boat for lunch. Optional sound and light show at the Temple of Philae in the evening. Dinner and overnight stay on board.

Breakfast, followed by a tour of the Theban Necropolis on the west bank of the Nile, including the... more+ Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens, where the tombs of many New Kingdom pharaohs, as well as those of their families and favored nobles, are located, The tour continues with the Colossi of Memnon, the last remaining vestiges of the temple of Amenhotep III, and Deir el-Bahari, the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Carved directly into the rock of the Theban Mountain, this three-terrace temple, built in 1455 BC, is both harmonious and modern; although dedicated to the god Amun, it also features chapels to Anubis and Hathor, the goddess protector of women. Return to the Dahabieh for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the southern part of ancient Thebes, home to the temples of Karnak and Luxor. The two temples are connected by a dromos, a long avenue lined with sphinxes, and are dedicated to Amun. In the evening, an optional sound-and-light show at the Temple of Karnak. Dinner and overnight stay on board.

Or, as another option, you can choose an excursion to Alexandria, a wonderful city located about 230 km from Cairo (2.5 hours by road). The catacombs of Kom El Choqafa: carved into the rock in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, they contain more than 300 tombs spread over three levels. Pompey's Pillar: a monolithic column of red Aswan granite, located in the archaeological park of Alexandria.

The Fort of Qaitbay: a fortified castle built on the site of the ancient lighthouse of Alexandria, which collapsed in the 14th century. The Great Library of Alexandria: founded in the early 3rd century BC, it became the largest universal library, housing more than 700,000 works.

Dahabiehs are traditional sailing boats that navigate primarily under sail. When wind conditions do not permit it, or on certain stretches of the Nile, the boat may be towed at a distance (approximately 30 m) by a small tugboat, as dahabiehs do not have engines

Unfinished obelisk
The Unfinished Obelisk of Aswan is an impressive remnant located in an ancient granite quarry in Upper Egypt. Commissioned during the reign of Queen Hatshepsut, it was intended to be the largest obelisk ever constructed, reaching about 42 meters in height and... more+ weighing an estimated 1,200 tons. However, a crack that appeared during the carving process halted the work, leaving the monument incomplete and still attached to the bedrock.
Today, the site provides a unique insight into the working methods of ancient Egyptian stonecutters. Visitors can observe extraction techniques, tool marks, and the monumental logistics involved in creating such structures.
