You'll catch a glimpse of the city's historic center, as well as the "Die Deutsche Eck" statue of Emperor Wilhelm I at the confluence of the two rivers.

Morning sailing to Rüdesheim in the beautiful valley of the Romantic Rhine. With its castles,... more+ historic towns, vineyards and the famous Loreley Rock, the sublime landscape, deeply linked to history and legend, has inspired many writers, painters and composers. Early afternoon arrival in Rüdesheim.

Optional excursions:

Authentic: Little train, wine tasting and museum of mechanical music in Rüdesheim. Departure by tourist train for a guided tour of the Rüdesheim vineyards. Wine tasting in the historic cellars of the Bassenheimer Hof, a 16th-century stately home. Then on to the Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett museum, housed in a historic 15th-century building. It houses an impressive collection of mechanical musical instruments, one of the largest and most beautiful collections from the 18th to the 20th centuries.

Experience: Rüdesheim vineyard hike. You'll arrive in the center of Rüdesheim, where the gondolas depart for the Niederwald monument. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the town, vineyards and Rhine. Continue with a hike through the vineyards to St Hildegarde Abbey, built between 1900 and 1904. Free visit of the abbey, then walk back to the boat through the vineyards.

In the evening, the famous Drosselgasse awaits you, with its numerous guinguettes and orchestras.

Meet your guides at Heidelberg Castle, where you'll discover the exterior of this magnificent, partly ruined pink sandstone castle. Since the end of the 18th century, the castle ruins have inspired painters and poets, who saw them as a symbol of the greatness and decadence of human endeavors. Goethe, Hölderlin, Uhland and Eichendorff celebrated the castle landscape, while many painters chose it as their motif. Discover the geometric terraces of the Palatinate Garden, the "Hortus Palatinus", once considered the "eighth wonder of the world". Your guides will take you on a tour of the old town. Admire the exterior of the Church of the Holy Spirit, built between 1398 and 1441 and the burial place of the Prince Electors.

Mini-train ride, wine tasting and visit to the Mechanical Music Museum in Rüdesheim
You’ll begin the tour with a guided tour of the Rüdesheim vineyards aboard a small train, during which you’ll discover the famous vineyards that were already cultivated by the Romans. During this tour, you’ll learn about the history of winemaking in... more+ the region and enjoy breathtaking views of Rüdesheim and the Rhine. The little train will then stop right in front of the historic Bassenheimer Hof winery, a 16th-century manor house, where you’ll take part in a wine tasting*. A winemaker from the Störzel family winery will guide you through a tasting of three wines—from the driest to the sweetest—while sharing the history of the winery and winemaking in the Rüdesheim region, along with some local anecdotes. After the tasting, you’ll head to the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments, located 100 meters from the winery. The “Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett” is Germany’s first museum dedicated to musical instruments with built-in memory. From delicate music boxes to the colossal concert-piano orchestrions, no fewer than 350 automatic instruments are gathered here to form one of the largest and most beautiful collections from the 18th to the 20th century, displayed across more than 400 m². Visitors can also admire the tools and machines used to manufacture organ cylinders, music charts, note rolls, and music box plates. Regardless of their age, museum visitors always take great pleasure in discovering this unique music, the techniques of yesteryear, and how these instruments work. Hiking in the Rüdesheim vineyards
We'll go to the center of Rüdesheim to catch a gondola lift to the Niederwalddenkmal, a monument built in the 19th century to commemorate the first unification of Germany. From there, you'll have a great view of the small city, the vineyards and... more+ the Rhine. We'll hike through the vineyards to the Abbey of St. Hildegard, built in the early 20th century. You'll have some free time to explore the abbey before we return to the ship through the vineyards once more. PLEASE NOTE Wear comfortable, sturdy walking shoes. 8km-hike with a 300m elevation gain. Times are approximate. The order of the visits can change.

Guided tour of Heidelberg
Departure for the visit of Heidelberg. This cosmopolitan, friendly, and vibrant city is made up of 15 distinct neighborhoods and is particularly attractive to families, students, business people, and researchers. Its high quality of life comes through to... more+ visitors, who feel genuinely at home here. We'll begin with a visit to the outside of Heidelberg Castle, where you'll be able to see the Renaissance ruins and parts of its restoration. The castle has a history that is almost as old as the city itself. From either the Great Terrace or the gardens, enjoy an amazing view over Heidelberg, the Neckar River, and the valley. Don't miss seeing the Heidelberg Tun. Built in 1751 by Prince Elector Karl Theodor, it housed the wine paid as taxes by the wine growers in the region. Legend has it that the permanently intoxicated court jester who guarded the cask, Perkeo, died after mistakenly drinking a simple glass of water. You can also enjoy a stroll through the castle gardens, once considered a masterpiece of their time. Built upon several terraces, they were made up of many flower beds, mazes, sculptures, heated greenhouse with orange trees, large ponds, waterfalls, and a man-made grotto. We'll then head for the Neckarmünzplatz, on the banks of the Necker River, and continue with a guided tour of the old city. We'll pass by the Church of the Holy Spirit, the most famous church in Heidelberg, whose steeple dominates the town.
