Excursion included: Visit to Dürnstein (approx. 3h30). A small medieval town listed as a UNESCO... more+ World Heritage Site for its architectural heritage. The village is packed with sights, including the elegant baroque bell tower of the Dürnstein church, the medieval and Renaissance facades of the town hall and the colourful houses in the main alleyway. Back on board for lunch. Afternoon sailing and lecture programme on board. In the evening, the ship docks in Vienna.

Discover the main monuments of the Austrian capital: the famous Ring with the opera house and the Hofburg, the narrow streets of the centre and St Stephen's Cathedral, the city's emblem (exterior view). Return on board for lunch. Afternoon free to wander at your leisure.

Optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace (approx. 3? hours). Visit the castle and stroll through the gardens of the ‘Viennese Versailles’, summer residence of the Habsburgs. It houses splendid state rooms and, together with its gardens, forms one of the best-preserved Baroque ensembles in Europe. Late afternoon departure for Esztergom.

Vienne Esztergom Budapest
Excursion included: Visit to Esztergom (approx. 3h30). Facing Slovakia, this Hungarian town,... more+ nicknamed the ‘Little Pearl of the Danube’, was built at the foot of the Pilis Mountains. Founded by the Romans, it became the capital of the Kingdom of Hungary in 972 and remained so until 1242. As the cradle of Christianity in Hungary, you will discover its neo-classical cathedral, the largest religious building in the country. The city centre stretches around Place Széchenyi, magnificently renovated in 2006. You will rejoin the ship in Budapest in the late morning for lunch. The ship will dock just off the Chain Bridge.
Excursion included: Visit to Budapest (approx. 4 hours). Guided tour of the ‘Pearl of the Danube’, a veritable open-air museum with several UNESCO World Heritage sites. Walk along the Buda side of the historic city, through the narrow streets of the castle, the Matthias Church (exterior view) and the Fishermen's Bastion. On the other side of the Danube, discover Pest, the modern city, with Heroes' Square and the Bois de Ville. The boat remains docked in Budapest at night, so you can take advantage of the evening to discover the illuminated Hungarian capital.

Optional morning excursion: The Jewels of Budapest (approx. 3h30). Visit to the neo-Renaissance... more+ National Opera. Built between 1875 and 1884 by Miklós Ybl, it is one of the most prestigious in Europe. Inside, the grand staircase, lamps, sculptures, frescoes and chandeliers create a sumptuous setting. Next, a visit to the Parliament. Majestically situated on the banks of the Danube, this neo-Gothic building is one of the symbols of Budapest. It houses the jewels of the Crown and today houses the Presidency of the Republic. (Please note: the visit to the Parliament may be subject to closure without notice. This excursion is subject to availability. Late morning departure and afternoon sailing to Slovakia. Conference programme on board.

The boat docks in Melk for the morning. Excursion included to Melk Abbey (approx. 3h30).... more+ Overlooking the Danube, this Benedictine abbey is one of the finest examples of Counter-Reformation Baroque architecture and a renowned spiritual centre. Visit the abbey, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then explore its gardens. Return on board at the end of the morning and set sail for Passau. In the afternoon, sail through the exceptional landscapes of the Wachau, a steep region where the Danube meanders through a green gorge.
