In the 18th century, Porto gave its name to one of the world's greatest wines: port, which you must try during a visit to a traditional cellar. You will then discover the narrow streets and centuries-old buildings, as well as the city's symbol, the iron bridge built under the direction of Gustav Eiffel.

Caldas de Aregos Pinhao
Departure from Caldas de Aregos: 7:00 a.m. Mooring in Pinhão: 11:00 a.m. Walk through the charming... more+ village of Pinhão and visit its famous train station decorated with blue and white azulejos. Visit a traditional quinta (wine estate) with lunch.
Optional excursion: Excursion to Mateus Palace in Vila Real with its French-style gardens: between the 15th and 17th centuries, many nobles settled in Vila Real. The town's main attraction is Mateus Palace, home of the last Count of Vila Real. This Baroque building is surrounded by a well-kept park with original hedge trimming and century-old trees. The count's gardens are among the most beautiful in Europe. You will also enjoy a tour of the interior of the palace.

For centuries, Jews, Arabs, and Christians lived there in peace. Thanks to its almond trees, the medieval town is nicknamed "the white town." Visit the ruins of the castle and palace with us, stroll through the cobbled streets, and admire the 16th-century facades and window decorations in the famous Manueline style.

You will visit the 16th-century Gothic "New" Cathedral and the 12th-century "Old" Cathedral (lunch included).

The Saint of Remedies found his final resting place here. If you wish, you can walk down the 600 steps connecting the sanctuary to the town. There, the Gothic cathedral and the local museum, with its impressive collection of paintings, are particularly worth a visit. Lamego is also renowned for its specialties: smoked ham, Bola de Lamego (bread filled with smoked ham), smoked kid, and Raposeira sparkling wine.

In December 2001, the city center was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2012, Guimarães was one of the European Capitals of Culture.
Excursion to Braga: Although Braga is one of the oldest cities in the country, its dynamism attracts many young students. You are invited to a leisurely tour of this Portuguese city, founded over 2,000 years ago as "Bracara Augusta" by Emperor Augustus. Former capital of the Roman Empire and later of Galicia, the city is steeped in history. You will discover the diocese and cathedral of Braga—the oldest in Portugal. Built in the 12th century by the parents of the first Portuguese king, Braga became an important Catholic religious center. Today, the city is also distinguished by its modern municipal stadium, designed by Souto Moura.
