There are many exciting activities to enjoy on the Antarctic Peninsula, even at the end of summer.... more+ Humpback whales are abundant in this region, feasting on krill before their migration north. Little penguins are also taking flight and bustling about on the beaches, while leopard seals lie in wait, ready to attack the less fortunate.

Livingston Island—Here, you’ll find a wide variety of chinstrap penguins at Hannah Point, as well as southern giant petrels and elephant seals hauling out onto the beach.

Deception Island—This island, which is actually a subductive crater, opens out onto the sea, creating a natural harbor for the ship. An abandoned whaling station and numerous bird species—Cape Petrels, McCormick’s Gulls, Antarctic Skuas, and Antarctic Terns—can be observed there. Black-bellied Storm Petrels and Black-bellied Coots also nest among the ruins of the whaling station at Whalers Bay.
