Angkor Thom also has two important pyramid temples, the Phimeanakas and the Baphuon, the restoration of which, by the French School of the Far East, was completed in 2011. In the afternoon, visit the spectacular Ta Prohm. This temple immersed in tropical vegetation was deliberately left in a state close to that of its rediscovery at the beginning of the 20th century. Here, in a solemn atmosphere, visitors can appreciate the extent of the tragedy experienced by the Cambodian people under the Khmer Rouge regime. On the way back to the boat, stop at Vat Phnom Hill, a picturesque sanctuary dedicated to Madame Penh, after whom the city is named.
