Our smaller expedition vessel allows access to areas unreachable by larger ships, giving you the chance to explore less-traveled channels with breathtaking scenery. Keep your cameras and binoculars handy to spot whales, including humpbacks, fin whales, minkes, and possibly even orcas.

Misty Fjords are home to diverse wildlife. During your exploration, you may spot mountain goats, black and brown bears, and moose. The waters host Pacific salmon, sea otters, Steller sea lions, harbor seals, orcas, and Dall’s porpoises. Overhead, keep an eye out for herons and bald eagles.

Hikers will enjoy nature trails in this stunning setting, at the mouth of the Stikine River and the base of Mount Dewey, reaching the edge of the rainforest.

Inhabited by the Lingít people for 10,000 years, the city was colonized by Russian explorers at the turn of the 19th century before being sold to the United States after Russia's defeat in the Crimean War. Today, Sitka has roots in all three cultures.

A visit to the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and the Bishop's House is recommended. Admire the totems carved by the Haida and Lingít peoples at Sitka National Historical Park, and follow the forest trail to the ocean.

Inhabited by the Unangax^ in 1833, it was abandoned in 1969 when subsistence fishing proved insufficient to sustain its population. Today, the few wooden buildings that remain are the only evidence that people once lived here.

Unga Dutch Harbor
Dutch Harbor is the largest fishing port in America, making it a fascinating place to visit. As you... more+ navigate in this direction, you can catch a glimpse of Mount Makushin, a sometimes smoking volcano rising nearly 1,830 meters.

The Aleutian Islands Museum will teach you more about the local indigenous people, the Unangan. Visit the Russian Orthodox Cathedral or the World War II Museum, which commemorates the battle that took place here in 1942.

Keep an eye out for bald eagles and puffins. Foxes, lemmings, and wild horses are abundant on land, while whales, sea lions, and porpoises occupy the waters. Dutch Harbor is also where the reality TV series Deadliest Catch was filmed, following the work of crab fishermen in extreme conditions.

Wind-swept Saint Paul Island is home to the largest Unangan community in the United States, with... more+ around 480 residents. You’ll have the opportunity to visit the historical remains of barabaras, traditional homes partially built underground to protect from the harsh sea winds.

Saint Paul Island has also been designated an important bird conservation area. It serves as an ideal resting spot for migratory birds, attracting nearly 300 different species. Try spotting horned and tufted puffins, Aleutian sandpipers, and the rare misty gull.

On the shore, you might see Northern fur seals frolicking and waddling. Half of the world’s population of these charming animals lives on these islands.

Saint Matthew Island is part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, located 322... more+ kilometers from the nearest village. The island is both wild and isolated, with remnants of abandoned buildings scattered between black sand beaches and tundra dotted with wildflowers. A few daring individuals attempted to settle here, but without success.

Today, the only inhabitants are birds, including thousands of puffins, guillemots, and cormorants. During our nature landing, if we're lucky, we might spot the rare McKay's bunting, which nests almost exclusively here. And if we listen carefully, we may hear the sound of the singing vole, named for its unusual warning call.

Nome naturally becomes the ideal place to say our goodbyes before taking a flight back to Vancouver, where you will spend the night.
