Leaving the port, our tour takes us across the island to the rural village of Lumbarda and its surrounding vineyards, home to the Milina-Bire family, who have lived here for centuries and are known for producing some of the island’s finest, most distinctive... more+ wines.
Originally making wine for personal use, the family decided, half a century ago, to apply their generations of knowledge and establish a small commercial winery.
Today, they operate with a fully automated production system, while still preserving some traditional winemaking techniques.
Upon arrival, guests will tour the production facility, then move into the wine cellar, beautifully decorated with historical tools once used in winemaking.
The owner will share the Bire family story and offer a tasting of four of their excellent wines, along with local delicacies such as homemade prosciutto, sheep cheese, and fresh bread.
Note: On Sundays or when Bire Winery is closed, we will visit Zura Winery instead.
