At Christmas, the Czech capital takes on a magical atmosphere, and it’s undoubtedly at night that the scenery is at its most beautiful and the Christmas spirit is most alive. You’ll cross the Vltava River while enjoying a magical view of Charles Bridge and the castle overlooking Prague’s Old Town. After walking up Paris Street, you’ll arrive at the Old Town Square, sparkling with a thousand lights and dominated by its huge Christmas tree.

In the morning, an optional excursion: the Prague Castle district. You’ll head to the Castle... more+ District, where you’ll enjoy a breathtaking view of Prague’s Old Town. You’ll explore the Mala Strana district, an architectural marvel that has retained its authentic and fabulous character. Spared the upheavals of the 19th and 20th centuries, it has remained unchanged over the centuries: a small cluster of medieval and Baroque houses set in a picturesque landscape.
Return to the ship for lunch.
In the afternoon, an optional excursion: Prague’s Old Town. You’ll visit Stare Mesto, a neighborhood whose origins date back more than 1,000 years, and enjoy some free time at Prague’s Christmas markets. In Old Town Square—which serves as a stunning backdrop with its magnificent buildings and richly decorated Christmas tree—you’ll enjoy the magical atmosphere of the Christmas market amid Christmas carols sung by guest choirs, sparkling lights, and the delightful aroma of mulled wine. The market stalls are brimming with local crafts: traditional wooden toys and puppets, Bohemian crystal, and Czech garnet—all perfect as gifts for others or for yourself. In the afternoon, you’ll sample a Trdelník—a cylindrical pastry—paired with a hot beverage. The Trdelník is a delicacy made from bread dough baked on a spit and coated with sugar.
In the evening, let yourself be enchanted by a Christmas carol concert on board.

In the afternoon, optional excursion: a tour of Nelahozeves Castle. You’ll visit one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in Bohemia. The castle, sumptuously decorated in the Italian style with sgraffito, stucco, and frescoes—particularly prized by the aristocracy of the time—also houses a rich private collection of furniture and paintings, including works by Rubens, Velázquez, and many others, all belonging to the Lobkowicz family, the oldest and most distinguished princely family in Bohemia. At the end of the tour, you’ll enjoy a selection of wines from the estate.

Return to the ship. Gala evening.

Optional day trip: Dresden, the “Florence of the Elbe.” The richness and splendor of the... more+ city’s cultural heritage are so breathtaking that they will leave you speechless. During a stroll through Dresden’s historic center, you’ll admire majestic buildings such as the Semper Opera House, the Zwinger, Taschenberg Palace, and the Church of Our Lady. During this magical time of year, your guide will also tell you about the region’s Christmas traditions.

In the afternoon, enjoy the colorful hustle and bustle of the Christmas markets scattered throughout the Old Town. Founded in 1434, the Dresdner Striezelmarkt is one of Germany’s oldest Christmas markets. Its name is inspired by a local fruit cake that was traditionally sold at the market—the famous Stollen. We’ll treat you to a small piece of Stollen, which you can enjoy as you stroll around. Another highlight of this market is its 14-meter-tall pyramid of giant candles. At the stalls in the wooden chalets, you’ll discover Pflaumentoffel—traditional good-luck figurines made from prunes—as well as wood carvings by artisans from the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge), Lusatian pottery, and gingerbread from Pulsnitz.

During the excursion, the boat will continue on to Prague, where you’ll rejoin it.
