Itinerary

Luxor Esna El Hegz
Pick up from your hotel or Luxor airport with our guide who will take you to visit the famous... more+ historical monuments on the west bank of Luxor. During this excursion, your first stop will be the Valley of the Kings, the ancient royal necropolis where Tutankhamun's still intact tomb was discovered in 1922.

Next, we will see the magnificent rock-cut temple of Queen Hatshepsut. You will also have the opportunity to visit the alabaster factory to discover how ancient artists carved stone. On the way, we will visit the Colossi of Memnon.

Visit the vast complex of Amun-Re, also known as Karnak. Then transfer to board at Esna, cruise and overnight on El Hegz Island.

Enjoy another leisurely breakfast on the Nile as you sail to Edfu, where your guide will accompany... more+ you on a visit to the Greco-Roman Temple of Horus/Edfu Temple. This is the best-preserved temple in Egypt, having been buried under desert sand for nearly 2,000 years before being rediscovered and excavated.

After the visit, continue sailing past islands where you can see children playing on the banks of the Nile and buffalo and donkeys walking near the river. Lunch on board, then sail to the small island village of Bassaw. This community of 500 inhabitants grows its own food (mangoes, bananas, dates) and lives off fishing. Remarkably isolated from the surrounding areas, Bassaw seems frozen in time! Visit the village of Bassaw. Upon arrival at a farmer's property, we will be welcomed into his home and have the opportunity to ask questions, particularly about the education of girls living on the island. (Option to participate in the preparation of local sun-baked bread for dinner). Dinner on the island with an Egyptian folk evening hosted by the crew.

On the way back to the dahabieh, stop at the Aswan souk to practice your bargaining skills, visit the spice market, and taste the famous sugar cane juice. Optional: visit the Nubian village in Aswan, meet the locals, go for a camel ride or a boat trip around the islands with a visit to the Botanical Garden.
