Morning sailing to Corsica. You'll sail along the Gulf of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In... more+ the heart of the Scandola nature reserve, bordered by towering red cliffs over 300 meters high, such as those of Punta Rosa, and enveloped in scrubland, you'll catch a glimpse of the Gulf of Girolata and the fabulous calanques of Piana. Your tour guide will tell you all about this island, a natural jewel surrounded by an azure sea: “The beauty of an island in five stops”. Full of natural and architectural treasures, rich in a culture marked by Italian influences and with a strong character, Corsica will offer you its warmest welcome. As the ship enters the first Corsican port of your cruise, we invite you on deck for a traditional digestif, myrtle liqueur, accompanied by a pastry.
In the afternoon, optional excursions:
- Authentic: Ajaccio and the Sanguinaires Islands. “Ajaccio is the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. Here, you'll discover the city's main monuments, including the Palace of Justice, the Cour Napoléon, the Place du Diamant, where a bronze equestrian monument depicting Napoléon and his four brothers stands, and the Place d'Austerlitz, where, according to legend, he visited as a child. Fascinated by historical figures, he dreamed of conquest and glory. You'll then make your way to the Pointe de la Parata for a walk in the heart of an exceptional natural site. You'll catch a glimpse of the Sanguinaires Islands, an archipelago of four rocky islands of magmatic origin. A haven of peace for numerous species endemic to Corsica, as well as rare and protected plants, this archipelago is an integral part of Ajaccio's natural and cultural heritage. Its rich and renowned architecture offers a veritable spectacle, with the Parata peninsula and its 16th-century Genoese tower at first sight.
- Experience an excursion into the land of scents. You'll cross the Corsican maquis, with its multitude of shrubs, flowers, trees and plants of all kinds, a veritable reserve of plant essences. You'll reach Ocana to visit the Maison des Senteurs. Balconied on one of the hills that accompany the Prunelli on its descent to the sea, it is run by Paul and Jean Pierre Caux, producers of organic essential oils since 1996. This welcoming house and its panoramic terrace are the ideal place to discover the secret of essential oils, of which Corsica is today one of the world's ambassadors. Then visit the Jardin des Abeilles to discover the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping. An educational trail under the trees and near the Prunelli river invites you to stroll through the heart of the maquis, enjoying its scents, coolness and beneficial shade, surrounded by heather, arbutus, fig tree, boxwood, holly and alder. At the end of the tour, you'll taste a range of Corsican PDO honeys.
