Its narrow streets, half-timbered houses, and numerous towers give the city an old-world charm. It is also a stage of the EuroVelo6, so you can cycle along the canal at any time. Arrival in Chagny, located at the heart of Burgundy’s wine region.
Hike to the Cirque du Bout du Monde. This Natura 2000 site is one of the most beautiful gorges in Burgundy. At 530 meters in altitude, it features spectacular rocky slopes carved into the limestone by the Cozanne River, which forms a waterfall about 40 meters high at the bottom of the gorge. The fauna of the cirque is typically mountainous. It is the only place in Burgundy where the white-bellied swift can be found. The slopes are a nesting site for the peregrine falcon, listed on the red list of endangered species in France. Classified as a natural park and characterized by its hardy plants and wild shrubs, the cirque offers a remarkable panoramic view of the main summits and rolling landscapes surrounding it: the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune, the Saône Valley, the Morvan, the Jura, and the Alps.
