Koblenz Rudesheim
Morning cruise on the romantic Rhine. The Lorelei and the legendary schist rock, on which a young... more+ blonde girl is said to have sat near St. Goarshausen, are the quintessence of Rhine romanticism. It was the poet Clemens Brentano who created this myth, made famous by the writer Heinrich Heine. In the current version, the unfortunate girl sits on a rock, combing her blonde hair while waiting for boats, which she causes to sink. This is how she takes revenge on her lover, who had cheated on her and wanted to flee on the Rhine. This myth also has a more rational origin. The place where Lorelei wreaks havoc is the narrowest and most dangerous part of the Rhine, where the wide-bottomed wooden boats formerly known as "Nachen" regularly sank. Today, the 132-meter-high schist rock of the Lorelei is a magnificent panoramic viewpoint over the Rhine Valley.
Optional excursion: Rüdesheim and the museum of mechanical musical instruments. Departure by mini-train to the "Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett" museum (subject to weather conditions at the time of your stay), Germany's first museum dedicated to memory-based musical instruments. Free time in the picturesque streets of the town. The famous Drosselgasse awaits you with its open-air cafés and orchestras.

Morning cruise to Mannheim, which we will reach by late morning. Optional excursion: Heidelberg.... more+ Departure by coach to Heidelberg, the city that symbolizes German Romanticism. Meet your guides at Heidelberg Castle, where they will show you around the exterior of this magnificent pink sandstone castle, now partially in ruins. Since the late 18th century, the castle ruins have inspired painters and poets, who saw them as a symbol of the grandeur and decadence of human works. Goethe, Hölderlin, Uhland, and Eichendorff celebrated the castle's landscape, while many painters chose it as their subject. You will also discover the geometric terraces of the Palatinate Garden, the "Hortus Palatinus," once considered the "eighth wonder of the world." You will continue with your guides on a tour of the old town. You will admire the Church of the Holy Spirit (exterior), built between 1398 and 1441, the burial place of the prince-electors.
