Biarritz, once a whaling village, is now a popular seaside resort. The town's destiny changed with the arrival of Napoleon III and his wife Eugénie, who wanted to enjoy the benefits of the sea. Take advantage of your free time to discover the Rocher de la Vierge, walk along the coastal cliffs or even take a dip in the ocean.

Biarritz Basque Country Biarritz
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for a day trip through the Basque Country. Your tour begins in... more+ Espelette. Visit this colorful town, full of charm with its traditional red half-timbered houses decorated with strings of peppers, representing all the uniqueness of the Basque Country. Renowned for its famous Espelette chilli pepper, it now has an international reputation. Free time.

Afternoon visit to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Irouléguy wine tasting. A charming village in the heart of the Pyrenees, Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port was named France's most beautiful village in 2016. What's more, it's the last stop on the Pilgrim's Way to Santiago de Compostela before the Pyrenees, making it a favorite spot for pilgrims. After the guided tour, departure for the Caves Irouléguy. Visit and tasting in the heart of the Basque vineyards.
Return to Biarritz. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight at a 4* NL hotel.

Bordeaux Cussac-Fort-Médoc The Médoc
Morning sailing to Cussac-Fort-Médoc. Sail along the Garonne to the Bec d'Ambès, then past the... more+ islands of Nord, Bouchaud and Patiras before arriving at Cussac-Fort-Médoc.
In the afternoon, optional excursions:
- Authentic: discovery tour of the Médoc's grands crus and wine tasting. Between sea and river, you'll criss-cross this peninsula where vines rise between polders to the east and pine forests to the west. Châteaux dot the landscape, revealing the famous Grand Cru appellations. A wine tasting is a must.
- Experience a helicopter flight over the Médoc and wine tasting. Transfer to Château-d'Arsac. Set course for the Médoc, a land that has been welcoming visitors for centuries, and whose vineyards are the most famous in the world. You'll fly over this magnificent region, forming the original and unique environment that is the Gironde estuary. At the end of your flight, visit one of the Médoc's oldest estates, which subtly combines exceptional wines and works of art in its "Sculpture Garden".

Optional excursions:
- Authentic: the Corniche road and the Blaye citadel. This narrow, picturesque road winds its way along the Gironde, offering an impressive panorama of the estuary. You'll pass typical fishing villages with their stilt huts and carrelets. Don't miss the local specialty, the famous Bourg fig. The fortified citadel of Blaye is one of the many facets of Vauban's work.
- Experience a walking tour of the underground passages of the Blaye citadel. Step into history and discover the genius of Vauban. This tour will give you an insight into the defense system put in place by the famous architect Sébastien Vauban, as well as the architectural evolution of the fortress. The tour ends with a tasting of regional products.

Sail to Libourne. Nestled at the confluence of the Isle and Dordogne rivers, Libourne has built up... more+ a rich heritage over the centuries. Optional excursions:
- Authentic: Saint-Émilion and wine tasting. This unusual medieval town, nestled in a setting of vineyards, has retained all the charm of its origins: stones with golden reflections, Romanesque tiled roofs, maze of alleyways with uninterrupted views of the surrounding vineyards. A wine tasting at one of the wineries is a must. Return to Libourne.
- Experience: Libourne by bike and wine tasting. Guided tour of Libourne, a former English royal bastide. At the confluence of the Isle and Dordogne rivers, the town grew up around its port. See the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, Place Abel Surchamp and the tower of the grand port. You'll then take your bikes to discover a Pomerol appellation winery. Wine tasting.

Departure by coach to discover the Médoc, prestigious wine-growing region. A corner of the world that produces the most prestigious red wines on the planet, tightly wedged between an ocean and an estuary. A mild, humid microclimate which has been... more+ favorable to the development of the vines. We will go through most of the Médoc appellations (Saint Julien, Margaux, Haut-Médoc). On the famous Châteaux Route, we will stop to taste the famous wines of the region. On the way you will see major domains such as Châteaux Laffitte-Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild. We'll leave by coach with a tour guide for a journey along the Route de la Corniche Fleurie. You'll see the old, traditional fishing huts on stilts and the remarkable limestone cliffs. We'll also stop in Bourg to take in the impressive views and... more+ walk to the market center where you'll be able to taste the local figs. After we return to Blaye, we'll have a guided tour of the citadel built by Vauban, including the monastery and several army barracks. We'll finish up our tour with a tasting of the famous Blaye "praslines." PLEASE NOTE The order of the visits can change. Times are approximate. Good walking shoes are recommended.

We'll leave on foot to visit the Blaye Citadel, built in the 17th century by Vauban in order to better protect the city of Bordeaux. Departure by coach from Libourne for the excursion to Saint-Emilion. Guided tour of the underground monuments in Saint-Emilion village. Your guide will tell you all about the history of the medieval town. You will then visit an exceptional troglodytic site:... more+ the cave of the monk Emilion, founder of the town, the Trinity Chapel built in his honor and the catacombs. Finally, undoubtedly the most original monument, the Monolithic church. Hewn entirely in the limestone, it is the biggest in Europe. You will then depart for a visit of a family-owned wine-growing estate, where you will be welcomed by the owner, who will explain the stages of the wine-making process in Saint-Emilion.
