As early as 1830, what was still a lumberjack's hamlet welcomed at the Auberge Ganne all the painters who came here in search of inspiration from unspoiled nature. They find their subjects in the countryside or in the nearby forest of Fontainebleau. You'll follow the painters' trail in the footsteps of Corot, Millet, Rousseau and many others. Then you'll visit the painters' museum housed in the Ganne inn, where you'll discover the ground-floor rooms, dining rooms and grocery store. Furniture and panels decorated by the artists and everyday objects have been repositioned to recreate the atmosphere of the 19th century. In particular, you can admire the fresco on wood, a collective work by Théodore Rousseau, Narcisse Diaz, Célestin Nanteuil and Louis Godefroy Jadin.
