In the morning, an included excursion: a visit to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum. An undeniable... more+ window into the past, the Checkpoint Charlie Museum traces the history of the two Berlins that were divided in 1961. A strategic border post between the two sides of the city, the museum uses numerous photographs, artifacts, and inventions to showcase the ingenuity of Berlin’s men and women as they sought to cross the famous Checkpoint—and, more broadly, the Wall. A true remnant of a divided city, you’ll also find poignant testimonies there, offering a glimpse into the lives of Berliners forced to leave their loved ones and suddenly adapt to a new daily reality. In the afternoon, we’ll set sail for Zerben, which we’ll reach late in the evening.
