Nearby is the Snæfellsnes Peninsula National Park, with the impressive ice-capped Snæfellsjökull volcano at its western end. The peninsula is nicknamed ‘Little Iceland’ because of the diversity of its landscapes.
In the National Park, you can visit the black sandy beach of Djúpalónssandur and the Saxhóll crater. Or climb to the top of the Snæfellsjökull glacier by snowmobile, or take a guided underground tour along a gigantic lava tunnel.

Further afield, discover the picturesque Goðafoss waterfall, where the turquoise waters crash against the black rocks. Jan Mayen has no permanent residents, and visitors are rare. We are one of the few ships to attempt... more+ a landing on the island. Conditions permitting, you will find yourself in one of the most isolated places on the planet.

While the island is not home to any land mammals, it is listed as an Important Bird Area and is home to large populations of northern fulmars, thick-billed murres and razorbills. Look out for the abundant marine wildlife in the surrounding waters, including whales and seals.
