Northern Lights: a 7-day expedition aboard a magnificent sailing ship, exploring the wild coastlines and remote lands of Iceland in the heart of the Arctic autumn
By Léa MLODUCHOWSKI expert of your cruises Do you dream of exploring almost untouched lands, observing fascinating wildlife, and admiring the Northern Lights in all their splendor? This expedition cruise takes you on a unique adventure between Iceland and the Arctic, discovering the region's spectacular landscapes and extreme ecosystems.
Conquering the northern reaches Departing from Iceland, the itinerary takes you through the cold waters of the Arctic, with stops on the island of Grimsey, a mythical place where the Arctic Circle passes, then on the mysterious Jan Mayen, dominated by its imposing Beerenberg volcano. You will then sail along the coast of Spitsbergen, exploring remote areas bordered by glaciers and ice floes. Each stop reveals breathtaking panoramas and allows you to experience an authentic adventure, where the weather dictates the pace and the exploration.
Exceptional stopovers Grimsey, one of the few inhabited territories beyond the Arctic Circle, welcomes you to an unspoiled natural setting, while the isolated and wild Jan Mayen reveals its volcanic landscapes. The vast expanses of ice, inhabited by seals, walruses and, if you're lucky, polar bears, mark the final frontier of the known world. Each stopover immerses you in extraordinary territories that are both isolated and fascinating. ##A dream for birdwatchers
An expedition accessible to all Zodiac boats, light hikes, onboard lectures, and navigation close to the ice are the main ways to explore these extreme regions. No exceptional physical condition is required to participate: the expedition adapts to the weather and the specificities of the terrain, allowing you to enjoy an exploratory experience without sacrificing comfort.
