- Authentic: guided tour of San Marco Basilica. With its... more+ oriental-style domes, flamboyantly crowned tympanums, polychrome marble and mosaics, the Basilica of San Marco is a jewel of unprecedented delicacy and richness when the midday sun reveals every detail. You'll discover sumptuous decorations, with mosaics on a gold background depicting events from the entire history of Christianity.
- Experience: the Dorsoduro district. Depart on foot for one of Venice's most pleasant districts. It's the only part of the city that was built on dry land rather than marshland. Our walk will take you along the Zattere quay to the Santo Spirito church and the customs house. You'll see the church of Santa Maria della Salute (exterior), a masterpiece of Venetian Baroque. The Academy Bridge with its galleries. You'll stop in the heart of Dorsoduro, a chic district where numerous palaces overlook the Grand Canal. Return to the boat on foot.
A short sail across the Venetian lagoon takes you to Mazzorbo. In the early afternoon, explore the island of Burano, world-famous for its lace and the colorful little houses that line the canals of this fishing village.
Optional authentic excursion/experience: discover the island of Murano. Departure by private boat to the island of Murano, famous for its glass production. Visit a workshop to see a glass-blowing demonstration.
Sail back to Venice.

Optional authentic excursion/experience: gourmet walk in Venice and its hidden neighborhoods. Taste... more+ the flavors of Venice on this guided walking tour. Your first stop, at one of the most famous "pasticcerias", will allow you to enjoy a delicious cappuccino accompanied by an assortment of typical Venetian cookies. Stroll through the San Polo district, the oldest part of the city, where the famous Rialto(2) market has been held for almost a thousand years. You'll be immersed in the characteristic atmosphere of this market, where fresh fruit and vegetables take pride of place. A meeting place for the inhabitants of the lagoon city who come here to do their shopping, you'll discover a relaxed atmosphere and an ideal place to discover Venice's culture and culinary traditions. The liveliest part of the market is undoubtedly the fish market. The stalls are often colorful and attractive, with fish and seafood arranged in such a way as to arouse the interest of shoppers. Afterwards, you'll head to a typical "osteria" and discover Venetian gastronomy as you sample the little tapas known as "cicchetti", a culinary specialty originating in Italy and very popular in Venice.

You'll cross the Venetian lagoon, a vast enclosed basin stretching 48 km.... more+ Since the dawn of time, visitors have been captivated by its bewitching and enchanting panoramas. To the south, a spit of land known as the Lido protects the lagoon from the Adriatic Sea. Late morning arrival in Chioggia, gateway to the Adriatic Sea.
In the afternoon, optional authentic excursion/experience: visit Padua, city of Saint Anthony. The city extends around the medieval heart, dotted with charming squares and palaces. The Basilica of St. Anthony, adorned with Byzantine domes, houses the tomb of the city's patron saint. Gala evening.

You'll leave on foot from The Zattere or San Basilio Pier. The Dorsoduro District houses some of the most picturesque canals and palazzi and some of the city's great art showcases without the tourist traps that you might expect. The area includes the highest... more+ land areas of the city. Our walk will take you along The Zattere to the Spirito Santo and the customs house. The view is absolutely spectacular from this point in Venice, because you can scan the entire Saint Mark's Basin, San Giorgio Maggiore, and the Grand Canal. We'll continue on to admire the exterior of the Santa Maria della Salute church, built during a plague epidemic in the 17th century. The church's dome was an important addition to the Venice skyline and soon became emblematic of the city, inspiring many artists. Our next stop will be Campo Santa Margherita, a large city square in the sestiere of Dorsoduro. You'll be delighted by this heart-warming quarter which has remained humble yet sophisticated with the many palaces overlooking the Grand Canal. A short boat ride will take us to the island of Murano. The largest island in the lagoon, Murano is famous all over the world for its unique glass. Take your time browsing the stalls brimming with fruits, vegetables, and seafood before having a seat at a typical osteria on the edge of the Grand Canal to snack on delicious cicchetti, Italian tapas-like morsels and buranelli, butter biscuits in the shape of a ring or "S", flavoured with vanilla, rum or lemon, a speciality of the island of Burano in the Venetian lagoon. Transfer by coach from Chioggia to Padua. Best known in Christianity as the Saint Antoine of Padua city, it is also famous for its art. Giotto (1267-1337, painter, sculptor and Italian architect) gifted the city of Padua some of his masterpieces, enriching... more+ the artistic scenery of the city. We'll start off with a guided tour of the city by coach before visiting the basilica which holds the vault of Saint Antoine. You'll be able to admire Donatello's bronze statue from the 15th century in the square before the basilica. This art piece was a major influence on sculptors of the Italian Renaissance. A guided tour on foot will take you to the Piazza delle Erbe and the Piazza dei Frutti which holds a fresh produce market every day. You'll then see the Palazzo della Ragione (exteriors only) and the Torre dell'Orologio with its astronomical clock dating back to 1344. You'll enjoy some free time to discover this charming city on your own. We'll be back on board in Venice. PLEASE NOTE Good walking shoes are recommended. Commentaries inside the Saint Antoine church are forbidden so they would be given before getting in. Please dress appropriately to visit the Saint Antoine church. Times are approximate.
