Vientiane Mekong
You will be picked up between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Vientiane before being welcomed aboard our... more+ charming river cruise. Settle into your cabin and get ready for 11 days of exploration and discovery. In case of low water levels, you will spend your first night in a hotel located in the heart of the capital.
In the afternoon, we will set off to discover the iconic treasures of Vientiane, including the emblematic Pha That Luang stupa, a true architectural masterpiece and symbol of Laotian cultural heritage, as well as the historic Ho Phra Keo temple. The imposing Pa-tuxai monument, often referred to as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane, proudly symbolizes the city's unique charm. In the evening, you will return to the boat, where you can relax on the spacious decks or in the lounge. A refined dinner, combining Asian and European flavors, will round off this first day.

Today marks the beginning of your unforgettable journey on the Mekong River. During the day, you... more+ will gradually travel upriver and pass through some of the most breathtaking landscapes the region has to offer. As we gradually make our way up the river, you will be amazed by the wild beauty of the landscapes passing before your eyes. In case of low water levels, this stage will be partially done by land and aboard a long traditional Laotian boat, offering an authentic immersion. Enjoy the moment on the open deck or pamper yourself with soothing treatments in the onboard spa. In the afternoon, we will sail through unspoiled nature before dropping anchor in a peaceful spot for the night. Throughout the trip, your cruise director will share fascinating stories about the history, culture, and diversity of the peoples who live along the Mekong River.

You will witness a spectacular demonstration of our captains' skill as they expertly guide the boat through the turbulent waters of this section of the river.
Early in the morning, we will reach the trading town of Salakham, known for its timber and spice trade. During a stroll through the bustling market, you will immerse yourself in the bright colors, lively sounds, and intense aromas of local trade and craftsmanship. Back on board, we will pass a golden statue of Buddha perched on a hill, marking the beginning of Thailand along the river.

After a 30-minute walk or—depending on the season—a ride on a local tractor, we arrive at a forgotten cave, where we explore its mysterious depths equipped with flashlights.
In the afternoon, we continue our journey on the river and enjoy the magnificent view before reaching our accommodation for the night.

Ban Don Sai ngam Xayaboury

In the morning, we will approach the Xayaburi Dam, the largest hydroelectric power plant in Laos. The 45-minute crossing of the dam offers a fascinating and up-close look at this technical masterpiece. In the afternoon, we will visit a small mountain village with which we have had contact for many years. This immersion will allow you to discover a rural, authentic, and sustainable way of life deeply rooted in local traditions.

Xayaboury Kuang Si Luang Prabang
In the morning, a tuk-tuk will take you to the famous Kuang Si Falls. These bright turquoise... more+ waterfalls cascade down several levels, forming natural pools that are ideal for a refreshing swim. Right next to the waterfalls is the Free the Bears rescue center, dedicated to the protection and conservation of sun and moon bears (Malayan and Tibetan bears), an endangered species throughout Southeast Asia. You will learn more about the considerable efforts being made to rehabilitate these adorable creatures.
In the afternoon, we will arrive in Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A guided walking tour of the city will take you to Wat Xieng Thong, the city's most famous temple and a masterpiece of Laotian architecture. A climb up Mount Phou Si will offer you breathtaking panoramic views of the Mekong and Khan rivers. Before dinner, you will return to the upper deck of the boat to enjoy a demonstration of traditional Lao dance and participate in a baci ceremony.

Luang Prabang
At dawn, you will have the opportunity to participate in Tak Bat—the traditional offering in the... more+ streets of Luang Prabang. Dozens of monks and novices dressed in orange parade through the alleys of the old town. Then, your guide will take you to the craft market, where the air is filled with the aromas of exotic spices, local tea, and freshly brewed Laotian coffee. After breakfast on board, you will continue your exploration of the city and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of the Luang Prabang National Museum, housed in the magnificent former royal palace. You will then visit a local craft village. The afternoon is free to explore the city at your own pace. Whether strolling along the Mekong promenade, admiring the view from Mount Phou Si one last time, or venturing to the Hmong night market, brimming with unique crafts and souvenirs.
For dinner, treat yourself to one of the city's many fine restaurants or a riverside table offering an idyllic setting.

Luang Prabang Pak Ou
During breakfast, we travel upriver to explore the legendary Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of... more+ small Buddha statues placed there by pilgrims over the centuries. From this sacred place, you can hike through the jungle to the local village of Ban Muang Keo. If you prefer a more leisurely approach, a short boat ride will take you to the village. Once there, you can witness the ancient tradition of distilling Lao-Lao, the famous local rice whiskey of Laos. Miss Somechan Khonpachith has perfected this art. Not only will she reveal the secrets of this ancient technique, but she will also invite you to taste this iconic drink.
In the afternoon, your boat will continue upriver towards Oudomxay province, passing by the Pak Ou dam construction site. Enjoy your free time relaxing on the outside deck or take part in the informative and entertaining program offered by your cruise director.

Back on board, we will begin the final stage of our cruise, sailing through breathtaking landscapes to the border between Laos and Thailand. Our journey ends in the border town of Huay Xay, a bustling commercial hub in Bokeo Province, whose name means "sapphire" and refers to the region's rich cultural heritage. You can explore the town's lively market and the peaceful temple overlooking the Mekong River. If time permits, we will cross the border into Thailand via the Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge. In the evening, you will enjoy our farewell dinner on the banks of the Mekong River, a perfect opportunity to share memories and highlights of this unforgettable journey.

Pak Tha Chiang Khong
After a final breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye to the crew and check out before... more+ disembarking at Chiang Khong. From there, you will continue on to the legendary Golden Triangle. As part of a guided tour, you will discover the majestic Golden Buddha of Sop Ruak and visit a museum that will give you an insight into the complex history of the opium trade and its effects on health. Our adventure together will end with a transfer to the airport or your hotel in Chiang Rai (IMPORTANT NOTE: flights before 6:00 p.m. interfere with the program and incur additional charges for a private transfer).
