Rugged rocky coasts, endless... more+ beaches, the looming Mount Etna reigning like a patriarch over its island, and flower-filled gardens on the hills—Sicily showcases its diverse landscapes like a merchant displaying treasures. Described by Cicero as "the most beautiful in the world," Syracuse was one of Sicily's most prestigious cities. At the height of its glory, it rivaled Athens. The Corinth Canal cuts through the isthmus of the same name, turning the Peloponnese into an island by separating this Greek region from the mainland. The canal’s sides rise to a height of about 50 meters. Watching the ship navigate this narrow strip of water wedged between towering ochre cliffs from the exterior decks is an unforgettable spectacle not to be missed.
