Authentic Amsterdam. A panoramic tour will give you an overview of... more+ the many historical treasures and sights of the Dutch capital. Windmills, diamond factories and the famous flower market are all symbols of the Netherlands and its history. Our first stop is the Riecker Mill, one of Amsterdam's oldest mills, on the banks of the Amstel. Then it's on to the flower market, where you'll round off this Dutch postcard by discovering thousands of varieties of flowers and bulbs of tulips, the country's star flower.
Experience: Amsterdam by bike, discovering secret and unusual places. Leave the boat on foot to join our bike rental company. Cycling is an institution in Amsterdam. A multitude of cycle paths criss-cross the Dutch capital, forming a sprawling network that's among the largest in Europe. You'll be accompanied by a guide for a tour lasting around 2h30. You'll discover the canals as well as the unusual and secret places known to the Amstellodammers for an immersive experience of the capital.

In the afternoon, optional Authentic / Experience excursion: Keukenhof Floral Park. The most famous floral park in the world, it is a symbol of the cultural importance of flowers and the flower industry in the Netherlands. Visit this paradise at your own pace. Formerly the estate of the castle of the same name, the Keukenhof Spring Park in its current format was created in 1949 by flower bulb growers. Its flowerbeds brighten up the park with vivid colors and offer visitors superb floral creations to admire along the way. You'll be charmed by the colors and fragrances of tulips, narcissi, daffodils and other bulbous flowers.

Some 80 authentic farmhouses, mills, workshops, houses, a school, barns and a church evoke the architecture and life of yesteryear in the Dutch provinces. Inside each building, typical furnishings and demonstrations of various crafts make the visit particularly interesting. You'll discover the beautiful timber-framed buildings of Limburg or the farmhouses of Gelderland, but the most charming corner is that of the Zaan region, with its green-painted wooden houses and gracefully decorated gables.

Morning sailing to Cologne, which we reach in the early afternoon. Optional authentic excursion /... more+ experience: Cologne. Depart on foot with your guide for downtown Cologne. Admire the exterior of the cathedral, which took over five centuries to build. A masterpiece of Gothic art, it is a true testament to the strength and persistence of the Christian faith in Europe. Construction began in 1247 and was completed in 1863, after the site had been abandoned in the 16th century. Surrounding the cathedral are 12 Romanesque churches, arranged in a circle and representing the 12 apostles. The tour continues through Cologne's Old Town, passing the famous Eau de Cologne House (outside). Before rejoining the ship, you'll have free time to wander the streets of Cologne. Continuation to Rüdesheim.

Morning sail on the Romantic Rhine to Rüdesheim. A river steeped in history, the Rhine fascinates... more+ with its many legends, including that of the Loreley and its famous rock, its vineyards and its many castles, which can be seen along the way. Arrival in Rüdesheim in the afternoon.
Optional excursions:
Authentic: small train, wine tasting and mechanical music museum in Rüdesheim. Departure by tourist train for a guided tour of the Rüdesheim vineyards. Wine tasting in the historic cellars of the Bassenheimer Hof, a 16th-century stately home. Then on to the Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett museum, housed in a historic 15th-century building. It houses an impressive collection of mechanical musical instruments, one of the largest and most beautiful collections from the 18th to the 20th centuries.
Experience : hike through the Rüdesheim vineyards, from the Niederwald monument to St. Hildegard Abbey. You'll reach the center of Rüdesheim, where the gondolas depart for the Niederwald Monument. From here, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the town, vineyards and Rhine. Continue with a hike through the vineyards to St Hildegarde Abbey, built between 1900 and 1904. Free visit of the abbey, then walk back to the boat through the vineyards.
In the evening, the famous Drosselgasse awaits you with its many dance halls and bands.
In the late evening, sail to Mannheim.

Optional... more+ authentic excursion / experience: Heidelberg. Departure by coach for Heidelberg, the symbol of German Romanticism. Meet your guides at Heidelberg Castle, where you'll discover the exterior of this magnificent, partly ruined pink sandstone castle. Since the end of the 18th century, the castle ruins have inspired painters and poets who saw them as a symbol of the greatness and decadence of human endeavors. Goethe, Hölderlin, Uhland and Eichendorff celebrated the castle landscape, while many painters chose it as their motif. Discover the geometric terraces of the Palatinate Garden, the "Hortus Palatinus", once considered the "eighth wonder of the world". Your guides will take you on a tour of the old town. Admire the exterior of the Church of the Holy Spirit, built between 1398 and 1441 as the burial place of the Prince Electors.
Return on board to Mannheim and continue sailing on the Rhine towards Strasbourg. Evening entertainment. Night sailing to Strasbourg. Gala evening.

Departure by coach for a guided tour of the city. Amsterdam is one of the world's most extraordinary small cities. From its canals and world-famous museums to its many sights and historical treasures, Amsterdam is one of Europe's most romantic and surprising... more+ capitals. Stop at the Riecker Mill, a windmill located on the banks of the Amstel River to the south of the city. The mill was built in 1636 in the village of Sloten. Pumping of the polder water was taken over by an electric pumping station in 1932, and the mill was subsequently dismantled when the polder was dug up to create, among other things, Lake Het Nieuw Meer. In 1961, the mill was re-erected some 8 kilometers away on the banks of the Amstel, between the Kalfjeslaan and Borcht roads. The banks of the Amstel at this point are much frequented by tourists and walkers, and it's a prime location for an old Dutch windmill. A statue of Rembrandt has been erected next to the windmill as a reminder that the painter drew many pictures on the banks of this river. Then visit the famous flower market. You'll find thousands of fresh flowers, as well as bulbs of the famous tulip (with the gouda ball, probably the best idea for a souvenir gift), shrubs, plants... The countless varieties will make you dizzy. Return by coach.

In the 15th century, the current Keukenhof estate was a hunting ground. Aromatic herbs were also grown here for the kitchens of Jacqueline of Bavaria's castle, hence the name Keukenhof (kitchen garden).

Some 80 authentic farms, windmills, workshops, houses, barns, a church and a school provide an... more+ insight on the everyday life and architecture of yesteryear. Upon arrival, our hostess will hand you a ticket so you can visit the museum on your own. Inside every building, you'll be intrigued by the typical furniture and the displays of various trades and crafts. Some of the buildings are grouped together, such as the beautiful Limburg timber-framed buildings or the Gelderland farms, but the most charming spot is without a doubt the area dedicated to the Zaan region, with its green painted wooden houses and tastefully decorated gables. Our visit will start with the renovated entrance pavilion and its good vantage point over the park and its many windmills. There are farming implements on display in many areas, like the collections center. The lower level gives access to the spectacular panoramic theater HollandRama. In this mobile capsule, films, sounds, lights, smells and temperatures evoke different scenes, from cityscapes to the confines of houses. Return on board by coach. Departure on foot for downtown Köln. You will discover the city in the company of your guide. Crossroads of Europe since the Middle Ages, Köln has kept its importance as a vibrant commercial and industrial city as well as a cultural and religious... more+ center. which has kept its importance both on a commercial and industrial level as well as on a cultural and religious level. You will be able to admire the exterior façades of the huge Gothic Köln Cathedral which took five centuries to complete. Indeed, although construction started in 1247, it was interrupted due to a lack of financing in 1560 and only started again in 1842 upon request of Emperor Frederick Wilhelm IV, who had fallen in love with the building. Construction was finally completed in 1863 and the Gothic Cathedral was the highest building in the world from 1880 to 1884. Around the Cathedral, 12 other Romanesque style churches are set in a circle, representing the 12 holy apostles. We'll then move on to the Old Town and stop to admire the outside of the neo-Gothic building, home of the famous "Eau de Cologne". Before returning on board, we will have some free time to stroll through the streets of Köln or try the famous local beer, the Kölsch(1). Return on board by coach in Königswinter. You will start the visit with a tour and commentary of the Rüdesheim vineyards by mini-train, during which you will discover the famous vineyards already cultivated in the Roman period. During this tour, the history of winemaking in the region will be... more+ explained and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Rüdesheim and the Rhine. The train will then stop right before the historical Bassenheimer Hof cellar, a seigneurial residence from the 16th century, where we'll indulge in a wine-tasting*. A winemaker from the Störzel family cellar will guide you through a tasting of three different wines, from the driest to the sweetest, all the while telling you about the history of the cellar and winemaking in the Rüdesheim region, complete with local stories. Afterwards, our visit will continue on to the Museum of Mechanical Musical Instruments located 100m away from the cellar in an old building from the 15th century. The "Siegfrieds Mechanisches Musikkabinett" is the first German museum dedicated to self-playing musical instruments, which holds an impressive collection of no less than 350 mechanical musical instruments dating back to the 18th century to the 20th, all spread out on more than 4000 ft². This is a vast collection, dating back three centuries, of fascinating musical instruments that function like computers, ranging from tiny, delicate music boxes to an enormous orchestrion. Tools and machines for the production of organ pipes, cardboard sheet music, rolls of sheet music and perforated disks are also on display in the collection. Whatever their age, museum visitors always take great pleasure in discovering this special music, the techniques from the past and how these instruments work. After visiting the Museum, you will have some free time to stroll through the streets of Rüdesheim ambling down the famous Drosselgasse, before making your own way back to the boat. PLEASE NOTE Warm clothes are recommended for the visit of the cellar. After the visits, passengers will have free time in Rudesheim until they go back to the boat on foot on their own. We'll begin with a visit to the outside of Heidelberg Castle, where you'll be able to see the Renaissance ruins and parts of its restoration. The castle has a history that is almost as old as the city itself. From either the Great Terrace or the gardens, enjoy an amazing view over Heidelberg, the Neckar River, and the valley. Don't miss seeing the Heidelberg Tun. Built in 1751 by Prince Elector Karl Theodor, it housed the wine paid as taxes by the wine growers in the region. Legend has it that the permanently intoxicated court jester who guarded the cask, Perkeo, died after mistakenly drinking a simple glass of water. You can also enjoy a stroll through the castle gardens, once considered a masterpiece of their time. Built upon several terraces, they were made up of many flower beds, mazes, sculptures, heated greenhouse with orange trees, large ponds, waterfalls, and a man-made grotto. We'll then head for the Neckarmünzplatz, on the banks of the Necker River, and continue with a guided tour of the old city. We'll pass by the Church of the Holy Spirit, the most famous church in Heidelberg, whose steeple dominates the town.
