In the morning, optional authentic excursion/experience: Giethoorn and canal boat trip. Giethoorn,... more+ a typical Dutch village, is the perfect example of how the Dutch like to live with and on the water. Giethoorn was founded by peat farmers. Peat mining led the inhabitants to settle on these small islets. There are no cars or buses here, only boats. We suggest a one-hour boat trip on the canals to discover this picturesque village. Giethoorn will enchant you with its magnificent waterside setting and flower-filled banks. Take advantage of your free time to stroll through the maze of canals, cross the bridges and discover the beauty of this village.
Sailing on one of Holland's largest inland lakes, the IJsselmeer to Enkhuizen. Late afternoon at leisure in Enkhuizen. Free opportunity to visit the Zuiderzee Museum, which recalls daily life in the old fishing ports of the Zuiderzee (admission not included). Overnight stopover.

Enkhuizen Hoorn
Morning sailing on the Markermeer to Hoorn. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Zuiderzee,... more+ the “southern sea” of the Netherlands, became two large lakes: Ijsselmeer and Markermeer. A 32-kilometer-long dike was built in the 1930s to protect the coastal towns from flooding, but also to create one of the largest polders in the world.
Afternoon optional excursions:
Authentic: Alkmaar and the Cheese Museum. Departure by coach with your guides to Alkmaar. Alkmaar is a historic city with over 400 monuments. The town is best known for its cheese. The whole process of preparing dairy products is explained in the Cheese Museum, housed in the Public Weights building, which you will visit with your guide. You'll discover beautifully decorated cheese presses and other instruments and tools that evoke the making of cheese and butter over the centuries. This tour will help you understand the importance of dairy products in the Dutch economy.
Experience: bike ride on the polders. Bike tour of Hoorn and the surrounding area. Located on the banks of the Ijsselmeer, Hoorn was one of the headquarters of the East India Company, the first mercantile company founded in 1602. The area around Hoorn is rich in cycling and hiking trails that cross the magnificent polders. Polders are structures built on water, symbolizing the adaptability and ingenuity of the Dutch. In the Beemster polder, a UNESCO World Heritage site, you can still admire 17th-century farmhouses belonging to Hoorn merchants, as well as mills. Overnight stopover.

The world's best-known floral park, it is a symbol of the cultural importance of flowers and the flower industry in the Netherlands. Visit this paradise at your own pace. Activities

Departure by coach for a guided tour of the city. Amsterdam is one of the world's most extraordinary small cities. From its canals and world-famous museums to its many sights and historical treasures, Amsterdam is one of Europe's most romantic and surprising... more+ capitals. Stop at the Riecker Mill, a windmill located on the banks of the Amstel River to the south of the city. The mill was built in 1636 in the village of Sloten. Pumping of the polder water was taken over by an electric pumping station in 1932, and the mill was subsequently dismantled when the polder was dug up to create, among other things, Lake Het Nieuw Meer. In 1961, the mill was re-erected some 8 kilometers away on the banks of the Amstel, between the Kalfjeslaan and Borcht roads. The banks of the Amstel at this point are much frequented by tourists and walkers, and it's a prime location for an old Dutch windmill. A statue of Rembrandt has been erected next to the windmill as a reminder that the painter drew many pictures on the banks of this river. Then visit the famous flower market. You'll find thousands of fresh flowers, as well as bulbs of the famous tulip (with the gouda ball, probably the best idea for a souvenir gift), shrubs, plants... The countless varieties will make you dizzy. Return by coach.

Departure by coach for Keukenhof Floral Park, accompanied by the boat's guide. On arrival, the hostess will give you an entrance ticket, and you can stroll at your own pace through the 32-hectare park's flower beds. Let yourself be charmed by the colors and... more+ fragrances of tulips, narcissi, daffodils and other bulbous flowers. Pass through the pavilion dedicated to orchids or the Japanese-inspired garden... Don't forget to discover a mill dating from 1892, at the far end of the park, from which you'll have a breathtaking view of the tulip fields...
In the 15th century, the current Keukenhof estate was a hunting ground. Aromatic herbs were also grown here for the kitchens of Jacqueline of Bavaria's castle, hence the name Keukenhof (kitchen garden).
Return to Amsterdam by coach.
