Norwegian coastline Lysefjorden
Today you'll wake up to a view of the magnificent Lysefjord. This 42km-long fjord is home to one of... more+ Norway's most famous landmarks: Preikestolen (The Pulpit Rock), rising 604 metres above the sparkling waters of the fjord. Mount Kjerag, at the end of the fjord, rises even higher. Along the way, you can see mountain goats, waterfalls and the famous Kjeragbolten, a glacial boulder stuck high up in a crevasse. The rest of the day is spent in Stavanger, a colourful waterside city with an international atmosphere and a lively cultural scene. Discover the architectural remains of Gamle Stavanger (the Old Town), which includes Northern Europe's best-preserved collection of wooden houses, and Norway's oldest cathedral, dating from the 12th century. Lysefjorden Alesund
After breakfast on the boat, we dock in a city that stretches across a string of islands. Many of... more+ the buildings, with their bright colours and rounded spires, were inspired by the Art Nouveau style in vogue in the early 1900s. You can take some impressive shots of the archipelago from the viewpoint at nearby Mount Aksla. You can also visit Atlantic Sea Park, Norway's first Marine Science Centre. This is one of the largest saltwater aquariums in Northern Europe, home to seals, otters and crabs, as well as many other marine species. You can even see Humboldt penguins, a species not found north of the equator. Join an optional excursion to explore Ålesund on foot or by bus, during which your guide will reveal the town's surprising secrets.

The charming fishing port of Rørvik in the picturesque Vikna archipelago may seem small, but it is... more+ steeped in history, as the town's landscape and museum collection testify. Here, you can take part in an optional excursion that will take you back in time through the last 10,000 years and give you a glimpse of the future. You'll discover landscapes carved in the Ice Age, carefully preserved 19th-century drawing rooms and the ingenuity of Norwegian salmon production, all preserved and explained in three excellent museums. In the afternoon, we continue sailing north through the Vikna archipelago of 6,000 islands, islets and reefs. The local gardens blossom with plum and apple trees in spring, even at 65°N, thanks to the maritime climate. On our night sail, we'll leave the Helgeland coast behind and cross the Arctic Circle.
