Torvik Bergen Floro Maloy Ålesund Molde
Early morning in the magnificent Nordfjord, near Torvik, with brief overnight stops in Florø and... more+ Måløy, followed by a short stop in Torvik early in the morning.
Passing Cape West before approaching Ålesund, one of Norway’s most distinctive cities, rebuilt in the Art Nouveau style after the 1904 fire and renowned for its elegant architecture and colorful facades.

From October through April, spend a full day in Ålesund exploring the city at your own pace, including a hike up Mount Aksla for panoramic views and an optional visit to Atlanterhavsparken, one of Northern Europe’s largest saltwater aquariums.
In May and September, cruise through the magnificent Hjørundfjord, in the heart of the Sunnmøre Alps, with a visit to the picturesque village of Urke.
In summer, cruise through the Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its steep cliffs, the famous “Seven Sisters” waterfall, and old, traditional farmhouses clinging to the slopes; an optional excursion is available along the Trollstigen mountain road.

The journey continues to Molde, nicknamed the “City of Roses,” with its magnificent setting overlooking the Romsdalsfjord and a view of more than 200 mountain peaks on a clear evening.
Stops are also made in Måløy, Torvik, Ålesund, and Molde.

A brief overnight stop in Kristiansund before continuing north toward Trøndelag, a region often... more+ described as the historic heart of Norway, where the coastline gives way to rolling farmland, wooded hills, and sheltered fjords.

Arrival in Trondheim, founded in 997 by the Viking king Olav Tryggvason and Norway’s first capital, with a three-hour stopover to explore the city:
the magnificent Nidaros Cathedral, nicknamed the “Notre-Dame of Norway,”
the Archbishop’s Palace and the Crown Jewels,
the Gamle Bybro bridge leading to the charming Bakklandet neighborhood,
or the climb up to Kristiansten Fortress for a panoramic view.

Back on board, we sail northwest through the vast Trondheim Fjord and then along the open coast, passing the Kjeungskjær Lighthouse—recognizable by its ochre-red color and one of Norway’s most photographed landmarks.
The gentle landscapes of the south gradually give way to more rugged and wild scenery.
In the evening, arrival in Rørvik, a lively coastal town in the heart of the Vikna archipelago, surrounded by thousands of islands and islets.
Stopovers also in Trondheim and Rørvik.

Short overnight stops in Brønnøysund, Sandnessjøen, and Nesna as we continue north through... more+ Helgeland, a region renowned for its islands, rugged peaks, and coastal legends; in the early morning, there’s a chance to catch a glimpse of the distinctive silhouette of the Seven Sisters mountain range.

Crossing the Arctic Circle, celebrated on deck with a traditional and somewhat whimsical ceremony; beyond it, the landscape begins to change.
Mid-morning, arrival in Ørnes, a small coastal community connected to the sea and the nearby Svartisen Glacier, Norway’s second-largest glacier.

In the early afternoon, arrival in Bodø, the second-largest city in northern Norway, designated as the European Capital of Culture for 2024, with optional excursions available to Saltstraumen, the world’s most powerful tidal current, or to visit a Sámi family at their camp in Saltfjellet (from November through May).

In the late afternoon, one of Norway’s most famous landscapes comes into view: the mountains of the Lofoten archipelago forming the famous Lofoten Wall.
First stop in Stamsund, a traditional fishing community known for its Arctic cod, followed by an evening arrival in Svolvær, the beating heart of the Lofoten Islands, with its traditional rorbu cabins featuring red and ochre facades lining the waterfront.
Weather permitting, the captain may choose to sail through the Trollfjord.
Stops are also made in Sandnessjøen, Nesna, Ørnes, Bodø, Stamsund, and Svolvær.

Short overnight stops in Stokmarknes, Sortland, and Risøyhamn as we continue sailing through the... more+ Vesterålen archipelago, where the morning light reveals a panorama of islands, straits, and mountain peaks.

Arrival in Harstad around breakfast time on Norway’s largest island, Hinnøya, with the option of a short walk along the waterfront.
Stop in Finnsnes, a coastal town connected to the island of Senja by the impressive Gisund Bridge; Senja is often described as “Norway in miniature” due to the diversity of its landscapes, and visitors can spot seabirds there, including gulls, cormorants, and, at certain times of year, puffins.

In the afternoon, arrival in Tromsø, a dynamic city that combines a rich polar heritage, a vibrant cultural scene, a thriving university, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with a four-hour stopover to explore the city or take part in optional excursions:
Polaria and its interactive exhibits,
the striking Arctic Cathedral,
the historic Mack Brewery and the famous Ølhallen pub,
or simply stroll through the shops, galleries, and cafés in the city center.

As we leave Tromsø in the early evening, the magnificent Lyngen Alps—one of Norway’s most spectacular mountain ranges—rise up before us.
Later in the evening, arrival at the former trading post of Skjervøy, founded in 1622.
Stops are also made in Sortland, Risøyhamn, Harstad, Finnsnes, Tromsø, and Skjervøy.

A brief overnight stop in Øksfjord before arriving in Hammerfest early in the morning—often... more+ described as one of the northernmost cities in the world and shaped by life along the Barents Sea, located on the island of Kvaløya, where herds of reindeer roam and Sámi communities have lived for generations.

As we continue eastward, the coastline opens up and offers an increasingly breathtaking spectacle, with islands scattered across the sea and headlands jutting out into the Arctic Ocean; as we sail toward Havøysund, the coast appears increasingly wild and isolated.

Late in the morning, we arrive in Honningsvåg, the gateway to one of Norway’s most iconic sites, with a nearly four-hour stopover to explore the northernmost reaches of the European continent—notably through the optional excursion to the North Cape and its globe-shaped monument, across the vast, treeless landscapes of Finnmark, or through excursions to observe the rich birdlife and nearby fishing communities.

In the afternoon, a stop in Kjøllefjord, a small fishing village nestled amid rugged coastal landscapes, with the opportunity to see Finnkirka, a rock formation that was once an important spiritual site for the Sámi people.
In summer and fall, an optional excursion exploring Sámi traditions (reindeer herding, traditional ways of life, joik singing), or, when there is sufficient snow, a snowmobile trek across the Nordkyn Peninsula.

Further east lies Mehamn, the northernmost port of call, a resilient fishing community that depends on the rich waters of the Barents Sea.
In the evening, arrival in Berlevåg, a remote town perched on the coast, after passing the Slettnes Lighthouse, located at 70° 45' latitude and the world’s northernmost mainland lighthouse.
Other stops include Hammerfest, Havøysund, Honningsvåg, Kjøllefjord, Mehamn, and Berlevåg.

The views become more and more spectacular as we approach Kirkenes.
We arrive near Vadsø early in... more+ the morning and then, right after breakfast, in Kirkenes, at 30° East—further east than Istanbul and Saint Petersburg; this is where the Coastal Express turns around to head back south.
Kirkenes is known as the capital of the Barents Sea region and the Gateway to the East.

After disembarking, transfer to the airport, then flight to Paris via Oslo.

The bus tour of Trondheim will take us past the ancient capital's magnificent red bridge and... more+ the old wooden buildings of the Bakklandet district, which have stood along the Nidelva River since the 18th century.

We'll then enjoy a magnificent panorama of the bustling city from the Utsikten viewpoint, which overlooks the nearby Kristiansten fortress and offers a glimpse of the island of Munkholmen in the fjord.

Our next stop is Nidaros Cathedral, Norway's national shrine. Built over the tomb of St. Olaf in 1070, it boasts dazzling architecture and Gothic-style ornamentation masterfully carved into the stone. After a captivating guided tour of the cathedral, you'll receive a book on the Norwegian Our Lady as a souvenir gift.

Join us for a guided tour of Trondheim and get ready to explore this historic city in depth. We'll start at the harbor, which developed during the second half of the 19th century, before walking to Stiftsgården, Trondheim's royal residence. We continue on to... more+ the market square to take in the huge statue of the city's founder, the Viking King Olav Tryggvason.
Then it's on to Nidaros Cathedral, Norway's national shrine and the world's most northerly cathedral, where you can tour the interior. Get your camera ready as we cross the town's ancient bridge, Gamle Bybro, recognizable by its pointed red arches. Locals call this bridge “the gateway to happiness”, a nickname popularized in the 20th century in a popular waltz by Norwegian singer and songwriter Kristian Hoddø. Admire the view of the colorful quays along the Nidelva River before returning to the quay.
