Tromso Bear Island
Bear Island is located halfway between mainland Norway and Spitsbergen. The island was discovered... more+ on 10 June 1596 and owes its name to a polar bear that was swimming nearby. Under Norwegian sovereignty since 1920, this nature reserve is currently inhabited only by the occupants of a weather station. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board.

Bear Island Hornsund
Seven days are devoted to exploring Spitsbergen. Spitsbergen is the largest island in Svalbard and... more+ also the only inhabited one. It was discovered in 1596 by the Dutch explorer Willem Barentsz on his way to China via the North-East Passage. At the beginning of the 20th century, the island's main sources of income were whaling and mining. Today, scientists have taken over. The largest town is Longyearbyen, with around 1,600 inhabitants. Spitsbergen is also home to many species of animal: whales, polar bears, walruses, seals, Arctic foxes, reindeer, etc. Depending on the weather conditions, zodiac trips and walks on the tundra will be organised.
Hornsund / Gnalodden
To the south-west of Spitsbergen, Hornsund is a 30km-long fjord which has been home to a Polish polar station since 1957. Not far away, the cliffs of Gnalodden are home to a deafening din of seagulls, fulmars and guillemots.

It was from its anchorage tower that polar explorer Roald Amundsen set off on his first flight to the North Pole in an airship on 11 May 1926. Ny-London On the shores of Kongsfjord, surrounded by nature reserves, you can watch seabirds, bearded seals, reindeer and polar foxes before stopping off at Ny-London, where the ruins of a marble quarry still stand.
