Welcome to Bergen! Your journey begins in this beautiful city on Norway's west coast. Founded in... more+ 1070 by King Olav Kyrre, it is now the country's second-largest city. The majestic peaks that surround it have given Bergen its nickname of “City of Seven Mountains”. 
In the center of Bergen lies Vågen Bay, the city's historic heart, home to the UNESCO-listed Bryggen district of charming cobblestone streets and local stores. Opposite Bryggen, don't miss the fish market, where you'll find fresh fish and seafood dishes to sample on the spot.
Before boarding, take advantage of our comfortable passenger lounge in the Bergen terminal. Here you can talk to the staff about booking one or more of the optional excursions still available.
Once we've welcomed you on board, you'll meet your ship's Coastal Experience Team: they'll be your hosts and guides as you discover the Norwegian coastline and Spitsbergen. Get to know your fellow passengers and settle in comfortably on board.
Enjoy your first meal on board and watch the colorful buildings of the seafront fade into the distance as the sailing in the Norwegian Sea begins.

Bergen Andalsnes

Åndalsnes is surrounded by magnificent mountains that tower above the town. Trollveggen, the Troll Wall, is a cliff with a drop of over 1,000 meters, making it popular with bungee jumpers.
Experience the Norwegian concept of friluftsliv, based on an attraction for outdoor activities such as hiking.
To take in the scenery in complete peace and quiet, make yourself comfortable aboard the Romsdal cable car or take the winding Troll Route by bus. Or join the Golden Train excursion along the Rauma Railway. This train journey was voted “Europe's most scenic” by Lonely Planet.

Andalsnes Træna
Træna is an archipelago located along the Helgeland coastline, at the edge of the Arctic Circle,... more+ 33 nautical miles northwest of the mainland. Of its 500 or so islands, islets and reefs, only four are inhabited year-round.
Spend an afternoon in one of Norway's oldest fishing communities or take a hike.
Inhabited by a large population of eagles, the area is particularly suitable for birdwatching. For a truly authentic experience, indulge in an ancestral Norwegian activity and go angling under the summer sun.
When we leave in the evening, take time to rest and relax on board. Continuing north, we pass the Arctic Circle and celebrate with a small Norwegian ceremony.

We dock at Reine, a postcard-perfect fishing village established in 1743. It's one of the most photographed landscapes in all of Norway, where red-painted rorbu cling to a string of islands beneath craggy mountain ranges reflected in the waters below.
Not far south of Reine, at the western end of the Lofoten archipelago, lies Å, one of Norway's best preserved traditional fishing villages. You can visit it on an optional excursion.
Located in the heart of this small village, the Norwegian Museum of Fishing Villages traces the development and importance of fishing in the Lofoten Islands over the past 250 years.

A stopover in Tromsø, on the way to or from Spitsbergen, means following in the footsteps of history. For most explorers and sailors on Arctic expeditions, this port was the point of departure or arrival. We'll dock in the morning, leaving you a full day to explore this Arctic town and its surroundings.
Choose from several optional excursions. Familiarize yourself with Tromsø's polar culture and history on a city walk or panoramic bus tour. You can also visit the stunning Arctic Cathedral, with its impressively large, multicolored stained glass window. You can also take the Fjellheisen cable car up to Mount Storsteinen for an exceptional view of the city, mountains and fjords.

Tromso Honningsvag
Mid-morning, we arrive in Honningsvåg, the northernmost town on the Norwegian mainland.

Honningsvåg is also the gateway to the North Cape, Europe's most northerly point. The plateau culminates at 307 meters above sea level, just 1,600 kilometers south of the geographic North Pole. Take time to contemplate the sea from the top of these vertiginous cliffs, and watch the waves crash on the rocks below.
Leaving Honningsvåg, we enjoy spectacular views of the plateau from the sea. The ship then sets course for the Barents Sea, leaving the coast of mainland Norway behind.

Honningsvag At sea - Norway
The penultimate day of your trip is devoted to crossing the Barents Sea. In the afternoon, we'll... more+ take a look from the boat at Bjørnøya, the southernmost island in the Svalbard archipelago. This inaccessible island lies halfway between mainland Norway and Spitsbergen.
As the island comes into view, you may be struck by the absence of trees, or even bushes. Vegetation is very scarce here, and part of the land is simply covered with a carpet of moss and lichen. The only plants that grow here are fertilized by the abundant birdlife that nests on the cliffs. Get your camera ready to immortalize seabirds such as razorbills, puffins, kittiwakes and northern fulmars flying over spectacular cliffs and steep slopes.
Contrary to its name, which means “Bear Island”, the only mammal endemic to the area is the Arctic fox. The island takes its name from a polar bear spotted swimming in nearby waters, but this remains an unlikely occurrence in such a southerly area.

Longyearbyen
On the last day of your trip, we arrive in the Svalbard archipelago and head for Spitsbergen, the... more+ largest of the three main islands. Magnificent brown and green mountains rise and undulate across the High Arctic tundra, while snowmelt rivers trickle across the plains, glistening in the summer sunshine.

Simply take the time to feel here, now, in Spitsbergen. You're at a latitude of over 78°N and less than 1,500 kilometers from the North Pole itself. The air in this Arctic desert is fresh and pure, while summer temperatures oscillate between zero and eight degrees Celsius, thanks to an offshoot of the Gulf Stream that warms this northern region.

In the early afternoon, we discover Longyearbyen, nestled on the shores of Isfjord. It's time to bid farewell to the ship, but before you head home, give yourself time to explore Longyearbyen. Formerly a mining colony, the town is now Spitsbergen's largest locality, attracting not only modern adventurers, but also scientists and engineers associated with local research projects, such as the famous World Seed Reserve.

Activities

Andalsnes and Romsdal cable car
Our tour starts as soon as you disembark on the quay, where you'll meet our local guide and begin our journey to discover the city's main points of interest. One of the most interesting sites is the remarkable Train Chapel, a decommissioned railroad carriage... more+ that was transformed into a small chapel in 2003. This is a first in Norway, if not the world.
After our walking tour, we'll make our way to the Romsdal cable car, Norway's longest and most eco-friendly. The cable car takes just 5 minutes to cover the 1,679 meters between the fjord and the peaks of the Romsdal mountains, but you'll feel as if you've travelled to another world. The views from the cableway and the summit are spectacular.
At the top, 708 meters above sea level, we'll scan the 360-degree panorama to take in the unforgettable contours of Romsdalshorn (one of Norway's most famous peaks), the Vengetindene summit, downtown Åndalsnes and the surrounding green valleys. It's easy to see why Åndalsnes is Norway's mountaineering capital!
We'll then explore the top of the mountain on a 30-minute guided walk (500 meters), and discover how the harsh climate shapes the daily lives of the region's inhabitants.
Before returning to the cable car, we'll take time to enjoy a local coffee and delicacy at the Eggen restaurant, located on the mountain next to the Romsdal cable car station.

Panoramic bus tour of the Troll Route
We'll depart from the village of Åndalsnes, Norway's mountaineering capital. This region is home to one of Europe's most beautiful rail routes and one of Europe's most spectacular hikes, according to Lonely Planet, so get ready to be amazed.

We'll follow... more+ the Rauma River, framed by vertiginous mountains, including the 1,500 m-high Mount Romsdalshorn on one side and the 1,550 m-high Trolltindane on the other. Our first photo stop is at the vertiginous Trollveggen.

We then cross the Sogge bridge into the Isterdal valley, lined with mountains named King, Queen and Bishop, before tackling the famous hairpin bends to climb the Troll road.

We'll make a photo stop at the Stigfossen waterfall before climbing the Troll Road. Admire the beautiful scenery from the comfort of your coach, or take part in an optional walk to another viewpoint. We slowly wind our way up the Troll Road before returning to our ship.

Queen and Lofoten landscape
Our journey begins in Reine, one of Lofoten's most famous villages, on the island of Moskenes. Our route takes us past the incredible Reinebringen, which at 448 m is the highest peak in the archipelago. Here you can admire an incredible view of the fjord,... more+ considered one of the 10 most beautiful in the world.

Heading north, we follow the inland coast road, between incredible mountains on one side and the sea on the other. You'll see picturesque scenes of charming fishing villages clinging to the mountainsides that rise from the sea. A typical Lofoten landscape.

First stop: Å. This fishing village, one of the best preserved in Norway, lies at the westernmost tip of the archipelago. Visit its museum to learn more about its maritime past: you'll discover traditional wooden boats, an old bakery and the interior of a fishing family home.

Next, we follow the outer coast for a quick photo stop in front of the charming church of Flakstad, the second oldest on the Lofoten Islands, before reaching Ramberg beach. On a sunny day, this 1.3 km-long white-sand beach will make you doubt you're 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. We'll stop here for lunch and enjoy some local specialities, before heading back to Reine.

Tromso and its polar history
This walking tour will reveal the vital and exciting role Tromsø has played in polar expeditions since the town was founded in 1795.

We'll start our tour with the Polar Museum. Housed in an 1830s warehouse on the waterfront, it tells captivating stories... more+ about famous trappers and the famous Arctic expeditions of Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen.

We'll then stroll through the historic city center, admiring the old pier, Tromsø's oldest house, its oldest street and Roald Amundsen's house.

We then head to Polaria, where you can watch bearded and harbor seals swimming. You'll also get a glimpse of life in the Arctic Sea in the aquariums and watch Arctic phenomena in the panoramic cinema.

On the way back to the pier, we'll stop at the monument to polar explorer Helmer Hanssen, and at Ølhallen, Tromsø's oldest pub.

Quad biking to the North Cape
Hop on your quad bike to or from continental Europe's most northerly point, the North Cape, and enjoy breathtaking views along the way.

Once everyone has suited up, and your guide has given you a brief safety briefing on quad biking, you'll set off on this... more+ picturesque tour of the island of Magerøya. During the trip, we'll make several stops so you can take photos.

Once we've reached the North Cape, you can walk, or drive, to the North Cape monument to take the traditional photo of Norway's most famous northern landmark. We'll then proceed to visit the North Cape Hall.

Your guide will be able to offer you a short tour of the facilities, unless you'd prefer to take the time to discover the place on your own.

Once our tour is over, the passenger from the outward journey will take the driver's place, and drive back to Honningsvåg. This route offers a few more photo opportunities.
