Morning guided tour of Lisbon. Immerse yourself in Lisbon's old quarters, where streetcars from another era criss-cross the city. You'll be amazed by its architectural treasures, where Manueline art plays a predominant role. And don't forget the famous Portuguese navigators who watch over the city from the top of their monument to discovery.
Afternoon panoramic tour by coach, where you'll discover a lively and atypical city. Perched on a hill, you'll see the Sao Jorge castle towering over the pastel-colored houses of the Alfama district, as well as the maze of picturesque alleyways leading down to the Tagus River.

In the afternoon, visit Coimbra. Built into a hillside on the banks of the Mondego, Coimbra is one of Europe's oldest fortresses of learning, alongside the Sorbonne, Oxford and Salamanca. The university, founded in the 12th century, is built on top of the Alcaçova hill and contains some real gems. From its prestigious past, Coimbra has retained a historic heart that bears the hallmarks of the Middle Ages. It's a delight to stroll through its charming alleyways. Continuation to Porto.

Optional authentic excursion / experience: Porto "by night". During a panoramic coach tour, you'll discover one of Europe's oldest cities, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Maritime epics opened it up to the world and gradually transformed it. Today, the city reveals the splendor of its past, and you'll see the Sao Bento train station, famous for its azulejos.

On the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, Portugal's second-largest city offers visitors a unique... more+ character. The city's maze of staircases and laundry-cluttered alleyways reveal illuminated walls adorned with azulejos. In the Ribeira district, these typical frescoes in blue earthenware tiles tell the story of life, past and beliefs.
Morning optional excursions:
Authentic: Porto. Departure by coach for a guided tour of Porto. You'll visit the Stock Exchange Palace, where you'll see the gilded hall covered in gold leaf and the Moorish salon inspired by the Alhambra, then the Sao Francisco church, a Gothic and Baroque masterpiece. At the end of the tour, you'll head to one of the city's famous wine cellars for a tasting session.
Experience: Porto by streetcar and the Portuguese streetcar museum. Take a streetcar ride through Porto's picturesque streets to the mouth of the Douro River. Stop off at the streetcar museum to see a unique collection retracing a century of Porto streetcar history. The tour ends with a tasting of local specialties.
Afternoon sailing. Sail through the Douro Valley. Bordered by vineyards for almost 200 km, the golden river reveals itself to travelers, with its wild, unspoiled nature. To tame the river, dams and locks calm its course. You'll pass through the gigantic Carrapatello lock, the highest in Europe with a 35 m drop.
Arrival in Régua in the evening.

Regua Pinhao Vega de Terron
Morning: optional authentic excursion/experience: Vila Réal and Casa de Mateus. Nicknamed the... more+ "royal city", this elegant little town has preserved its patrician mansions adorned with coats of arms and traditional wrought-iron balconies. To tantalize your taste buds, try the local pastry "cristas de galo". Then on to the Solar de Mateus manor house, a magnificent 18th-century Baroque edifice. Take a stroll through the splendid formal garden.
Return to Pinhão.
Afternoon sailing to Vega de Terron. You'll sail through the heart of Porto's most famous vineyards. It's here that men have carved out the mountains to shape terraces with undulating lines covered in vines. Nourished by the mists of the river and flooded with sunshine, they produce the famous Port wine. You will pass through the Valeira and Pocinho locks.
Arrival in the evening. Overnight stopover. Spanish-themed evening on board.

Experience: Salamanca Tapas tour. Departure by coach to Salamanca. Meet your local guide for a tapas tasting at several establishments in the heart of the city. Lunch in a local restaurant to extend this Spanish culinary immersion. Free time to stroll around the city.
Return on board and set sail for Senhora da Ribeira. You're back in the magnificent Douro valley, covered with trellised vineyards plunging masterfully into the river. From curves to meanders, it's a sight you'll never tire of.

Porto is not only a city rich in vestiges from... more+ a glorious past, but also the young-spirited, warm capital city of a region marked by its winemaking as well as its closeness to the ocean. During the tour of the historic center, your guide will schedule a stop at the Sao Bento railway station to look at its magnificent azulejos. Return on board by coach. Departure by coach from the Villa Nova de Gaia Quay, facing Porto from across the Douro river and the famous Dom Luis I Bridge, built between 1881 and 1886 by French engineer Theophile Seyrig, one of Gustave Eiffel's pupils. Porto, the second largest city... more+ in Portugal, stands out from the steep banks of the Douro river with its mixture of grey facades and red tiles interspersed with unusual architectural masterpieces. Its historical center was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996. We'll discover The Palácio da Bolsa (Stock Exchange Building), built in 1834 by the city's Commercial Association. It has remained their headquarters to this day. After climbing up the beautiful granite and marble stairway, we'll visit the former Tribunal Room, the Golden Room and the Arab Room, decorated in the exotic Moorish Revival style. Afterwards, we'll visit the Igreja de São Francisco (Church of Saint Francis), also known as the "Golden Church”. It was originally a modest convent founded by Franciscan monks in the 12th century, before being further altered by prominent Porto families in the 15th and 16th centuries. They were responsible for the Baroque style interior which mingles with the large, elaborate rose window in Gothic style on the main façade in a fascinating mixture of styles reflecting the various eras it went through. We'll cross the Dom Luis I Bridge again back to Villa Nova de Gaia for the visit of a wine cellar. Porto's pride notably stems from its famous wine known the world over, which you will get to taste*. We'll leave from Vila Nova de Gaia by coach for downtown Porto. Once we arrive, we'll board one of the city's trams and partake in this urban-tourism experience all the way to the mouth of the Douro. Our visit will include a stop at the tram... more+ museum (Museu do Carro Eléctrico), housed in a former thermo-electric power plant. The museum collection comprises the oldest cars pulled by horses, called "Americanos,” to the last trams from the 1950s and 1960s. Departure by coach towards Salamanca where you'll meet up with your guides. Since 1988, the Old Town of Salamanca has been listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The classified area extends on the major part of the city as it used to be until the... more+ middle of the 20th century and is responsible for its growing popularity. We'll visit the cathedral whose successive extensions created a mixture of styles going from late Gothic to Baroque, including Renaissance. Afterwards, we'll visit one of the world's oldest Universities which first opened in 1218. Also known as "Escuelas Mayores”, the University building has a sumptuous gate adorned with the city's most famous design: a frog atop a skull - symbolic of the sin of lust being punished after death. Its wonderful library brims with old manuscripts dating back from prior to the 19th century. You'll enjoy lunch and be free to discover the city on your own. Return on board in Vega de Teron.
