Mahé is home to some 70 fine sandy beaches framed by emblematic granite rocks, bathed in crystal-clear waters renowned for their rich seabed. The island is also famous for its splendid mountain panoramas, accessible by hiking, such as Morne Seychellois, towering 905 meters above the Indian Ocean. Mahé is also an island steeped in history, with beautiful colonial properties and Creole houses, not to mention the wonderful Victoria Botanical Gardens.

To the west of Praslin, this small granite islet of around 30 hectares is teeming with life.... more+ Privately owned until 1968, Ile Cousin was purchased by the Conseil National pour la Protection des Oiseaux to become a nature reserve. The main aim was to save the Seychelles warbler and the toc toc, two bird species in danger of extinction. The operation was a real success, as the island is now the most protected in the archipelago, with a large number of plants and animals endemic to the Seychelles.

Remire Curieuse
Located off the coast of Praslin, Curieuse is characterized by its reddish soil. Discovered in 1768... more+ by French explorer Marc-Joseph Marion du Fresne, it was ravaged by fire in 1771 and later became home to a leper colony, some of whose remains can still be seen. Declared a national marine park in 1979, it is home to numerous underwater species, which can be discovered on scuba dives or snorkeling excursions in the heart of the paradise waters of the Indian Ocean. But Curieuse is most famous for the hundreds of giant Aldabra tortoises that live there, fascinating reptiles you're sure to meet. It is also the only island, along with Praslin, where coco de mer grows naturally.
