Covering an area of over 1,400 km², this wild territory is home to numerous animal species such as elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and buffalo, as well as thousands of birds, including the legendary African fish eagle, the majestic yellow-billed stork, and the black egret with its astonishing fishing technique. And if luck is on our side in the heart of the bush, a big cat might just cross our path. The park’s history is intertwined with that of the lake: when the water levels rose during the dam’s construction, several thousand animals were rescued and relocated to Matusadona, where hunting is strictly prohibited. This was the massive “Operation Noah,” which saved large mammals, big cats, and impalas, among others.
Return and lunch on board as our boat glides across the crystal-clear waters of the lake. Explore by private boat in one of the most picturesque areas of Lake Kariba, where herds of elephants roam in complete tranquility. Dinner and overnight stay on board.

In the afternoon, explore Victoria Falls on foot: its many viewpoints are among the most exceptional on the planet. We’ll journey out on a safari to discover the area around Matusadona National Park. Bordered by the Sanyati and Ume Rivers, this 1,400km²/540 sq mi-large untouched area is home to numerous animal species such as elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffalos as... more+ well as thousands of birds. We might be lucky enough to cross paths with a big cat or two! The history of the park is closely linked with that of the lake: during the construction of the dam, the rising floodwaters affected the native wildlife although the damage was mitigated by Operation Noah, an initiative which saved the lives of over 6,000 animals. This rescue operation allowed for large mammals, big cats, impalas and more to be moved to Matusadona where hunting is strictly prohibited.
