Transfer from Hanoi to your boat moored along the Red River in Viet Tri.
After lunch, visit Lac... more+ Long Quan Temple or the Temple of the Hung Kings to learn about the history of the Hung Kings and the founding of Vietnam’s first nation.
Return to the boat for a welcome dinner and an introduction to the crew.

A day dedicated to exploring the various handicrafts produced throughout the delta.

After lunch, we continue our journey downstream on the Red River and discover a timeless, bucolic Vietnam, featuring emerald-green rice paddies dotted with limestone rock formations.
We stop in a small village dedicated to the artisanal production of the famous Vietnamese headwear, the conical Non La hat, before continuing on to Thay Pagoda. Little known but boasting magnificent temples dating back to the 11th century, this visit allows us to discover this superb temple on the edge of a lake as well as the village surrounding the pagoda.

Red River Hanoi
As we drop anchor in the bustling city of Hanoi, passengers will set out to explore the must-see... more+ sights of this Asian metropolis, including the famous Vietnam War prison known as the “Hanoi Hilton” and the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university, dedicated to the Chinese philosopher Confucius.
We’ll also stop outside Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum to discuss the work required to preserve “Uncle Ho’s” body.
In the afternoon, we’ll set out on a walking tour of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, a bustling labyrinth of food and shops that awakens all the senses.
We’ll finish with a visit to a café to learn about the Vietnamese coffee industry and enjoy an authentic Vietnamese coffee.

This morning, we’ll visit the pottery village of Bat Trang, a center of pottery production that... more+ has been passed down from generation to generation. The pottery made here is renowned throughout Vietnam and adorns many homes in both the north and south of the country.
Before returning to the boat, a local dance troupe will perform a lion dance for us on the pier. This colorful and dynamic dance is a tradition at festivals in Vietnam, particularly during Tet.
This afternoon, we’ll navigate through the maze of waterways and enjoy an onboard activity led by the Pandaw chef, featuring a cooking class and a fruit carving demonstration.

Bat Trang Nam Dinh Ninh Binh
After breakfast, we disembark to visit the village of Co Chat in Nam Dinh Province. There, we visit... more+ local artisans who specialize in traditional silk weaving, as well as local markets brimming with exotic goods.
After lunch on board, we dock at the village of Khanh Thien, a charming town renowned for the skill of its artisans. We explore this cultural hub by local transport or bicycle and discover a variety of crafts, including water hyacinth weaving, as well as different methods of making rice paper and traditional cakes.
We end the evening with a local performance of “Chau Van” singing, an ancient art form unique to this region.

Ninh Binh Luoc

Visitors traveling in September and October or in April and May will be able to admire the valleys bathed in golden hues as the rice fields prepare for harvest.
After lunch, we continue our exploration of the Red River Delta with a trip to Phat Diem, home to Phat Diem Cathedral, a 19th-century Roman Catholic church built in a harmonious blend of Vietnamese and European architectural styles.
We then continue our cruise to Halong Bay.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the town of Thanh Ha, considered the birthplace of water puppetry in Vietnam. After a walk or bike ride through this charming village, we’ll attend a private water puppet show, performed in the shade on the banks of a beautiful pond covered with lotus and water lilies, just as this tradition has been enjoyed for centuries.
We’ll then drop anchor near the port of Hai Phong, the gateway to Halong Bay.

Kinh Thay Ha Long Bay
We weigh anchor early in the morning and sail down the river before entering the spectacular... more+ landscapes of Halong Bay, with its 2,000 impressive limestone islands and extraordinary rock formations dating back more than 20 million years.
As we explore Halong Bay, we stop at the famous “Dark and Light Cave,” where we board kayaks or a traditional rowboat steered by local fishermen to venture into this remarkable cave, which opens into a crater-like enclosed space. Bats can be heard in the cave, and imposing stalactites hang from the ceiling.
We continue our cruise through Halong Bay before dropping anchor in a more peaceful part of the bay.
