We had planned to go to Ist which is also very beautiful, but unfortunately, we could not because there was not enough wind. We had to adjust the itinerary according to the weather, but the good thing about Croatia is that you have the possibility to go to safe places anyway.
Massimo, his family and friends rented a boat in Pula from ACI Marina of Pomer, for a one week cruise in the bay of Kvarner, and Croatia. You will find below the itinerary they followed, the places they preferred as well as the unforeseen events they had to face, something to inspire you for the organization of your next boat rental in Croatia.
Massimo's itinerary
Massimo, who already has many other sailing experiences, has decided this year to rent a sailboat in Croatia for a cruise in the Quarnerine Islands. It is an area that he knew well and that is dear to him since his mother is originally from these islands. Below, you can see the route he and his crew took:
- Day 1: Pula (ACI Marina Pomer) → Susak (35 nautical miles)
- Day 2: Susak → Przine Beach (Ilovik) (13 nautical miles)
- Day 3: Przine Beach → Sveti Ante (Silba) (10 nautical miles)
- Day 4: Sveti Ante → Krivika Bay (Losinj) (14 nautical miles)
- Day 5/6: Krivika Bay → Uvala Maracol (Unije) → Pula (ACI Marina Pomer) (35 nautical miles)

When sailing a sailboat, you have to be ready to adapt to weather conditions. Massimo and his crew, unfortunately, did not have good weather during their whole trip and this forced him to change the route that they had planned. They started to return to the Marina de Pula on the fourth day and then spent the last two nights there. In any case, Massimo told me:
“The luck we had in Croatia was that there were many places where we could anchor safely.”
Indeed, they were able to observe different islands such as Susak, Ilovik, Silba, Losinj and Unije in addition to enjoying the navigation.

Massimo's advice
“If I had to recommend an anchorage, I think it would be Susak, where we spent the night. One of the most beautiful things we did afterwards was a tour around the area of Susak: there are several taverns and a little further on, vineyards and sandy and pebble beaches.”

“Another beautiful place that is rather famous is the bay of Sveti Ante, in Silba, near Olib.”

“We also visited Pula, and it is worth it! It is a special city, it represents something a little different from Croatia: there is a small Colosseum!”

“Ist is also very beautiful but unfortunately we could not go there because there was no wind.”

“Another thing that is spreading and that we also did was to take a paddle, a fun way to get around on the water.”
The chosen boat: the Oceanis 41.1
The Oceanis 41.1 is a high performance sailboat, with a beautiful design and rich in comfort. It has two or three cabins, two bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a platform from which you can jump into the water.
