Lajes do Pico is a small Portuguese town on the south coast of the island of Pico in the Azores.
In 2011, there were 4,711 people in this town, on 14,800 of the island.
The city is bounded on the north by the São Roque do Pico, on the west by that of Madalena and south by the Atlantic Ocean.
Its area is 154 square kilometers, or one-third of the island of Pico.
The port was an important base for whaling until 1984 You can still see remnants of industrial activity related to whaling.
The conversion is done to tourism: scuba diving, whale watching.
