Izola (Isola Isola d'Istria or in Italian) is a city of the Republic of Slovenia, near the Italian border on the Adriatic coast. The city is bilingual Slovenian - Italian, Slovenian its name Izola while its Italian name is Isola d'Istria.
The town is located along the Adriatic Sea near the Gulf of Trieste. Nearby is thus important Italian city of Trieste. The town is adjacent municipalities of Koper on the east and west of Piran. Koper, Piran and Izola are also the three main ports of Slovenia.
