Iceland's capital lies on the edge of a vast bay... more+ in the west of the country. On Oskjuhlið hill, the Perlan Museum offers a panoramic view of the green districts. A little further on, the spire of the evangelical Hallgrímskirkja church is easy to spot: it points the way to the historic center, an invitation to stroll along Skólavördustígur and Laugavegur, two lively streets with charming little stores. On the outskirts of the city, the Reykjanes peninsula, with its unusual Blue Lagoon thermal pools, promises a pleasant moment of relaxation.

Formed by a series of undersea eruptions, the Vestmann Islands... more+ archipelago consists of 15 islands and some 30 islets. An island with a rich history and striking landscapes, you’ll set out to explore Heimaey. Dominated by Eldfjall, it is the only inhabited island in the archipelago. This exceptional place reveals a rugged landscape: vertiginous cliffs, reefs, sea caves, and surf… Look up and you’ll surely be able to admire the spectacular nosedives of the northern gannets.
This land anchored off Iceland’s southern coast is the largest of the Vestmann Islands and the only inhabited one in the archipelago. From the rugged volcanoes Eldfell and Helgafell to the lush meadows of the Herjólfsdalur volcano, it will reveal a landscape rich in contrasts. On the road to Stórhöfði, you’ll overlook gray-sand beaches and cliffs sculpted by the Arctic Ocean; at the same time, you’ll see golden-brown moors atop the mountains. You can also explore the Eldheimar Museum, an ultra-modern, interactive space that vividly brings to life the volcanic eruption that struck Heimaey in 1973.
