Itinerary

Itinerary
Reykjavik
Boarding from 16:00 to 17:00 - departure at 22:00. Iceland's capital lies on the shores of a vast... more+ bay in the west of the country. On Oskjuhlið hill, the Perlan Museum offers a panoramic view of the green districts. A little further on, the spire of the evangelical Hallgrímskirkja church is easy to spot: it points the way to the historic center, an invitation to stroll along Skólavördustígur and Laugavegur, two lively streets with charming little stores. On the outskirts of the city, the Reykjanes peninsula, with its unusual Blue Lagoon thermal pools, promises a pleasant moment of relaxation.

Reykjavik Ammassalik
Experience exceptional voyages aboard the Commandant Charcot, the first high-end polar exploration... more+ vessel and the first PC2-class polar ship capable of navigating deep into the ice, on seas and oceans that sea ice makes inaccessible to conventionally designed ships. The Commandant Charcot carries oceanographic equipment and scientists selected by a committee of experts. Take advantage of lectures and discussions on board with these specialists to learn about or deepen your knowledge of the poles, contribute to scientific research, and discover together what these fascinating destinations still have to reveal.

Still virtually unknown a century ago, Greenland’s east coast remains the region’s most authentic and majestic landscape. Explore this region where alpine mountains blend seamlessly with the sea, while the fjords are adorned with towering snow-capped peaks and icebergs drifting or trapped in the ice. You will slowly immerse yourself in the heart of its frozen landscapes of surreal beauty. The types of ice, with their infinite variety of textures, offer a constantly changing spectacle. You will follow in the footsteps of the famous Pourquoi Pas?, the ship of Commander Jean-Baptiste Charcot, who set sail in 1934 with his crew to settle Paul-Émile Victor in Ammassalik. In this fjord of primal and wild beauty, the explorer was to dedicate his first ethnographic mission to the Ammassalimiut, a little-known Inuit community. There, in this deceptively still landscape, the silence is broken by the barking of dogs and the clatter of sled runners. You will be warmly welcomed into the heart of villages still sheltered by the coastal ice pack. You will have time to discover Inuit culture through joyful and authentic moments shared with the communities, centered around their ancestral traditions.

Ammassalik Blosseville coast
Aboard your ship, follow in the footsteps of French explorer and navigator Jules Poret de... more+ Blosseville. In 1833, aboard La Lilloise, he set out to discover this isolated and unexplored part of eastern Greenland, giving French names to various sites along the coast. The adventure probably had a sad ending, as the crew was never found. The uninhabited territory that today bears his name lies to the south of Scoresby Sund. Surrounded by ice, icebergs and chunks of pack ice, the Blosseville coast is one of those wild, inaccessible places that few people are lucky enough to discover.
