Built in the 11th century as the residence and seat of government of the Republic of Venice, it is known for its imposing architecture and richly decorated interior. You will stroll through the halls of the palace and admire paintings by Tintoretto and Veronese, then cross the famous Bridge of Sighs to reach the prison. Built in the 16th century, it was used to take prisoners from the courtroom to their cells. From the balconies and windows, you will also enjoy splendid views of the Serenissima and its canals. Return to the ship. Lunch on the cruise. In the afternoon, discover the Christmas village in Campo Santo Stefano and St. Mark's Square, magnified by the magic of Christmas. The Christmas market in Campo Santo Stefano is by far the largest. With its wooden chalets, it is a real Christmas village that comes to life in the square. Part of the market is entirely dedicated to local products. Glazed chestnuts, specialty pastas, creamy nougat, traditional oils, and vinegars are all on offer. Then, you will head to St. Mark's Square. As night falls, Venice is transformed into a true fairy tale. The Christmas lights enhance the facades of the palaces, reflecting in the calm waters of the canals. St. Mark's Square, the beating heart of the city, is home to a huge, majestic Christmas tree, the highlight of the Venetian decorations. Return to the ship for dinner. In the evening: concert at the Church of San Vidal, where the Interpreti Veneziani perform. These talented violinists devote their concerts mainly to the music of Antonio Vivaldi, from "L'Estro Armonico" to "The Four Seasons," including his violin concertos and even his symphonies.
