This site offers a remarkable concentration of the archipelago’s iconic landscapes, including monumental glaciers, rugged mountains, Arctic tundra, and remnants of early polar expeditions.
In particular, you’ll be able to admire the impressive Lilliehöökbreen, whose glacier front stretches nearly 7 kilometers, as well as the spectacular July 14 Glacier, famous for its cliffs teeming with seabirds and its exceptional Arctic vegetation.
This region, rich in history and biodiversity, is also an excellent spot for observing polar wildlife, with the chance to spot seals, seabirds, and—depending on conditions—whales swimming in the fjord’s waters.

Today, the shores are dotted with ruins that attest to Spitsbergen’s rich history. Madeleine Bay will serve as the starting point for a hike to the great glacier.
