This is where your Mekong expedition truly begins. From the very first hours of sailing, marvel at the wild splendor of northern Laos: lush greenery, mist-covered mountains, and isolated villages nestled along the river. We will finally drop anchor for the night at Pak Tha, an important area at the mouth of the Mekong River.

After a relaxing morning on board, we will reach a picturesque riverside village around noon. From this sacred place, you will have the opportunity to take a hike through the jungle that will lead you to the local village of Ban Muang Keo. Once there, you will witness a demonstration of a fascinating traditional craft: the distillation of Lao-Lao, the famous rice whiskey of Laos. Miss Somechan Khonpachith, who has perfected this art, will not only share the secrets of this ancient technique with you, but also invite you to a tasting. Before dinner, you will return to the boat's outdoor deck to enjoy a demonstration of traditional Lao dance and participate in a baci ceremony.

Luang Prabang Kuang Si

At... more+ the end of the morning, we will reach the peaceful village of Ban Muang Khai, where traditional tuk-tuks await to take you to the spectacular Kuang Si Falls. Here, crystal-clear turquoise waters cascade down several levels, forming magnificent natural pools, perfect for a refreshing swim in a paradisiacal setting.
Right next to the waterfalls is the "Free the Bears" rescue center, dedicated to the protection and conservation of sun and moon bears (Malayan and Tibetan) threatened with extinction throughout Southeast Asia. We will learn more about the considerable efforts being made to rehabilitate these adorable creatures.
In the afternoon, we will continue our cruise towards the impressive Xayaburi Dam, Laos' largest hydroelectric power plant, an engineering masterpiece that supplies much of the country with energy. In the evening, our cruise ship will drop anchor at a secluded sandy beach where you will spend the night.

During the afternoon, we will continue our journey along the river, enjoying the magnificent views and, with a little luck, you will be able to watch local fishermen casting their nets on the riverbanks. At the end of the day, you can take part in the entertaining and informative program offered by your cruise director. In the evening, we will dock a little earlier to prepare our famous barbecue on the riverbanks, under a starry sky and in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

A stroll through the local market will immerse you in the colors, sounds, and smells of local crafts and give you an authentic glimpse into the traditions of the region. In the evening, we will drop anchor for the night near a small village.

Today, we will arrive in the capital of Laos, Vientiane, nicknamed "the mother of all waters" by... more+ the locals. Depending on the river level, the last leg of the journey will be either on board your cruise ship or on a traditional Laotian boat, followed by a land transfer to the capital. Once there, we will visit the iconic Pha That Luang stupa, an architectural masterpiece and symbol of Laotian heritage, and explore the historic Ho Phra Keo temple. The imposing Patuxai monument, often referred to as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane, stands proudly and embodies the unique charm of the city. In the evening, you will enjoy our farewell dinner on the banks of the Mekong River, a perfect opportunity to share memories and highlights of this unforgettable trip.
