What is an APA?
Updated on: 26/05/2025For a crewed charter in the Mediterranean, the price is generally quoted as follows: €30,000 excluding tax + VAT + APA.
VAT depends on the country of embarkation.
The APA (Advanced Provisioning Allowance) is an advance on expenses. It is a sum of money paid in advance in addition to the boat’s price and is used to cover all daily expenses incurred during the cruise, such as food, fuel, and port fees. It is like a petty cash fund, set at approximately 25% to 30% of the pre-tax charter price.
During the charter, the captain keeps track of expenses by saving all receipts, and at the end, he will either refund you the unused balance or ask you to pay for any additional expenses incurred.
