The Makarska riveriera, which stretches over sixty kilometres, is the perfect destination for your next holiday. Located at the foot of the splendid Biokovo mountain, the Makarska Riviera is a real paradise: magnificent pebble beaches, crystal clear sea, Mediterranean vegetation, the smell of pines... everything is there for an unforgettable holiday in the most beautiful part of the Adriatic Sea. The Makarska Riviera offers you many opportunities for activities, visits and itineraries in a unique environment. Discover here below all our tips to make the most of your stay in one of the most beautiful rivers on the Adriatic.

The Makarska Riviera and its magnificent beaches

One of the best ways to reach the Makarska Riviera and its 60 kilometres of coastline is by sea. Indeed, the arrival on the Riviera will offer you an unforgettable panorama: the discovery of the impressive Biokovo mountain rising above the coast and its crystal clear waters. In the 1960s, sailing by boat was the only way to reach the Makarska Riviera. Today, the pleasure of this discovery by the coast is reserved for boaters since the Riviera is also accessible by car after the construction of the Adriatic coast road.

The Makarska Riviera is the destination where you will find the most beautiful beaches in the whole country. Turquoise water, white pebbles and fragrant pine forests... These are the main elements you will find in beaches of the Riviera. If you have opted to rent a boat to discover the Riviera, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the heavenly beaches. Here is a short list of the prettiest beaches in this little corner of paradise:

Punta Rata Beach

Punta Rata Beach, located in Brela, north of the Makarska Riviera, is one of the must-see beaches when visiting the coast. Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Croatia and one of the most beautiful in the world, Punta Rata beach has the Blue Flag, a symbol of the excellent quality of its water and its environmental qualities. Dive into its crystal clear water and relax with your family on this magnificent pebble beach. This beach is also known throughout the world for its rock covered with pines which has become the symbol of the village but also of Croatia.

The Makarska Riviera and its unique villages

The Riviera makarska is not only known for its heavenly beaches. Indeed, the other charm asset of the Riviera is none other than its old fishing and farming villages, which have kept their original charm. Most of these villages are rather small and protected from mass tourism. If you have chosen to rent a boat during your holidays in Croatia, we suggest you to discover its villages which are worth a visit. You will appreciate the lifestyle based on fishing, olive tree cultivation and the production of oil and wine. From north to south, there are about fifteen villages along the Makarska Riviera. Have a look at the following short list of villages that you should not miss.
