Makarska is a seaside town on the mainland, 65 km south of Split. Going down to Dubrovnik, there goes necessarily. Very ugly suburbs are misleading and the small town center turns out to be a nice and pleasant surprise. It is easily explored on foot, over the docks and ancient alleys. Opportunity to swim on the beach of Donja Luka, in the northern part of the city, sheltered by the peninsula of Sv. Petar.
