Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is a municipality and capital of the province of Las Palmas, and co-capital of the autonomous community of the Canary Islands (Spain) to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, devolution taking place every four years. It is located in the northeast of the island of Gran Canaria is the most populated of the islands (it stretches almost 10 km between ravine Guiniguada and the peninsula south of town Isleta north).
The city, also known for its famous carnival that lasts for weeks in February, is the administrative and economic center of the island. She takes turns every four years with Santa Cruz de Tenerife located on the nearby island to govern the archipelago.
