Morlaix is situated north of the department of Finistère, at the confluence of two rivers, and Jarlot Queffleut (alternate spelling: Queffleuth) which form the Dossen or Morlaix river. The estuary of the river of Morlaix, separating Leon (west) and Treg (east), spans 15 kilometers between Lock and the mouth Carantec. Because of this location, Morlaix was the victim of severe flooding (especially in 1880, 1883, 1925, 1974 and 2000).
Morlaix is the seat of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Morlaix. It manages the Airport of Morlaix Ploujean, the Port of Morlaix (mainly dedicated to the craft), the Port of Roscoff, the Auction of Roscoff. The ICC also has a project of urban renewal the Tobacco Factory of Morlaix, industrial site listed building, which now houses housing, education (IUT de Morlaix), economics (business hotel) utilities (Morlaix Community), artists' studios.
