Eriksberg is an area where Hisingen in Gothenburg Eriksbergs Mekaniska Verkstads AB had their yard into bankruptcy in 1979 for more than a century, the region was dominated by shipbuilding, but a crisis in the 1970s destroyed industry.
Since the collapse of the shipyards, the area was rebuilt in the modern district of Gothenburg best. The old buildings have been refurbished machines at a hotel with conference facilities. 84 meters high gantry - Crane Eriksberg - stands as a relic of the past, shipbuilding in the region.
